Today, the first Ho Chi Minh City tourism golf tournament will connect tourism businesses to promote and introduce this new tourism product of the city. The tournament has a scale of 80 - 100 players, besides the guests are foreign partners specializing in exploiting inbound tours, representatives of consulates and embassies of countries.
Mr. Trinh Nguyen Hung Dung, Chairman of the Saigon Golf Tourism Association (Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association) said that golf tourism will meet the needs of tourists in the middle and high-end segments and is a segment of customers with high spending needs, bringing large revenue to the tourism industry. Currently, each golfer spends an average of more than 500 USD/day with an average stay longer than other groups of customers.
According to statistics from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, about 20% of Asian tourists (Korea, Japan, China, etc.) coming to Vietnam want to play golf. In the near future, golf tourism in Ho Chi Minh City also aims to attract visitors from these countries.
On average, each golfer spends more than $500/day.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that in the last two months of the year, the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry is striving to achieve the best results to build destinations and tourism brands for the city.
Accordingly, the city will continue to develop typical tourism products to focus on exploiting and promoting the tourism strengths of Thu Duc City and districts associated with tourism types that are potential strengths of the locality.
The tourism industry will implement a plan to develop waterway tourism, promote solutions to develop cruise tourism, develop cultural and historical tourism products in the area; and a plan to develop night tourism products.
"In the last two months of the year, the city will also focus on promoting the development of Thieng Lieng community tourism products (Can Gio District) associated with exploiting natural values and unique cultures, implementing plans to develop medical tourism products, and perfecting policies for developing MICE tourism," Ms. Anh Hoa informed.
In addition, the 3rd Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week will be held from December 4 to 10, 2023 with the theme "Green on every journey" with a series of unique tourism, sports and music events, serving the community, domestic and international tourists, promising to be a highlight of the city's tourism at the end of the year.
Make your mark with "quality"
Not only focusing on products, to enhance the city's tourism brand, in 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism coordinated with relevant agencies to organize a training course on knowledge and skills for tourists for taxi drivers and a seminar to exchange tourist service skills for food service establishments in the area.
Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, acknowledged that building the image of friendly, professional, hospitable restaurants and food establishments to leave a good impression on tourists is not only meaningful in improving service quality; but also contributes to building the local tourism environment.
"Through the training sessions, we expect that each driver and each person serving tourists will be a tourism ambassador of the city, contributing to promoting, spreading, and creating a beautiful image in the eyes of tourists," Ms. Ngoc Hieu shared.
Also this year, the city’s tourism industry has brought tourism products such as conical hats, cloth bags, coffee, etc., along with traditional musical instrument performances to important markets for Vietnamese tourism to promote Ho Chi Minh City tourism. Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Consul General of Vietnam in San Francisco, California (USA) expects that through the promotion program, the number of American visitors to Ho Chi Minh City will increase significantly.
