It is noted that since 3pm, heavy rains and dangerous thunderstorms have occurred all over Ho Chi Minh City. Due to the rain lasting for many hours, some roads have been flooded, with some areas being half a meter deep.
Among them, there are routes such as: Pham Van Chieu, Nguyen Van Khoi, Quang Trung, Le Duc Tho, Le Van Tho (Go Vap district), Nguyen Van Qua, Song Hanh (district 12), Pham Duc Son (district 8), Le Co, An Duong Vuong, Ho Ngoc Lam, Ma Lo (Binh Tan district) and National Highway 50 (from the intersection with Nguyen Van Linh street to Binh Hung street, Binh Chanh district) making it difficult for vehicles to move.
As of 7:00 p.m. on September 17, many roads in District 12, Go Vap, Tan Binh, etc. were still deeply flooded.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from tonight and tomorrow evening (September 18), the Southern region will continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 10 - 30 mm, some places over 50 mm.
The agency warned that thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains may cause flooding in low-lying areas.
