(NLDO) - Flood water came quickly during the night, in just 2 hours it rose more than 50 cm, causing the area of communes west of Nha Trang to be submerged in water.
At around 7:00 p.m. on December 15, in the western area of Nha Trang City, flood water quickly flooded the communes of Vinh Trung, Vinh Thanh, Vinh Phuong, and Vinh Hiep.
In Phu Trung 2 village, Vinh Thanh commune, at around 5 pm, the water was only ankle-deep. By 7 pm the same day, the flood water had risen to the waist.

In just about 1 hour, the water rose more than 50 cm.
Flood water
The South Central Region Hydrometeorological Station said that in the past 12 hours (from 1:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on December 15), there was moderate to heavy rain in the southern part of Khanh Hoa province, with some places experiencing very heavy rain.
It is expected that in the next 12 hours, the southern area of Khanh Hoa province will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, with total rainfall ranging from 20-40 mm, in some places over 60 mm; floods will appear on rivers and streams in the southern part of Khanh Hoa province and continue to rise; the flood peak will appear this evening and tonight (December 15).

Currently, Khanh Hoa Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited has issued a notice on flood discharge to regulate water to maintain the elevation of Suoi Dau reservoir (Dien Khanh district).
Suoi Dau Lake regulates water from 3:00 p.m. on December 15 to 5:00 p.m. on December 19. Maximum regulated flow is 90 m3 /second.
Two other lakes in Dien Khanh district, Am Chua Lake (Dien Khanh district) will regulate from 11:00 a.m. on December 15 to 5:00 p.m. on December 19 at a rate of 40 m3 /second.
Dac Loc Lake regulates from 3:00 p.m. on December 12 to 3:00 p.m. on December 17 at a rate of 25 m3 /second.
