Toyota Vietnam reaches 700,000 vehicles produced

Toyota Vietnam held a ceremony to produce the 700,000th vehicle at the Toyota Vinh Phuc factory. This is the Toyota Veloz Cross.

Since its operation in 1996, the Toyota factory in Vinh Phuc province has continuously improved both in quality and quantity. The average production output has increased from 2 cars/day, equivalent to 212 cars/year, to over 108 cars/day, equivalent to about 27,000 cars/year.

In May 1999, Toyota was the first automobile manufacturer in Vietnam to be granted ISO 14001 certification for Environmental Management System at the factory and has continuously maintained and improved the system to this day.

In addition, Toyota Vietnam also became the first automobile manufacturer to have a complete production process including 5 stages: stamping, welding, painting, assembly and quality control when it officially put the stamping workshop into operation in 2003.

Currently, the factory is producing and assembling 5 car models including: Vios, Innova, Fortuner, Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio. Of which, Vios and Veloz Cross are often in the top 10 best-selling cars on the market, contributing to Toyota's success in the Vietnamese market.

On the eve of its 30th anniversary, the Japanese car company continues to set a record as the first brand in Vietnam to reach a total production output of 700,000 vehicles.

Toyota's successes have contributed significantly to the development of Vietnam's socio-economic situation. In addition to increasing the rate of localization of products, Toyota also implemented projects to support improvements for domestic enterprises in the field of supporting industries.

To date, the Japanese automaker has paved the way for 13 purely Vietnamese suppliers to participate in the supply chain, with total localized components reaching nearly 1,000 products of all kinds.

In addition to the successes in the manufacturing sector, the total number of vehicles using Toyota's genuine services has reached 20 million. The company also promises to reach the sales milestone of 1 million vehicles and become the first brand in Vietnam to achieve this milestone.

Currently, Toyota has developed a system of 86 dealers, dealer branches and authorized service stations covering 49 provinces and cities nationwide. The company also continues to strive to become a good citizen in the local community through positive contributions in the fields of Traffic Safety, Environment, Education & Human Resource Development, and Social Culture.

Toyota Vietnam has contributed to the development of the automobile industry by increasing the localization rate through manufacturing components right at the factory, attracting leading suppliers to invest in Vietnam, and searching for and developing domestic suppliers.

Since 2018, Toyota has established a specialized department to support suppliers, prioritizing Vietnamese suppliers, helping them improve their management capacity, thereby increasing labor productivity and improving product quality. Currently, the list of Toyota suppliers has reached 60, including 13 Vietnamese suppliers, bringing the total number of localized products to over 1,000 products of all kinds.

In 2020, Toyota Vietnam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade signed a "Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation to support domestic enterprises in the field of automobile support industry" to improve capacity and strengthen links between domestic support enterprises and automobile assemblers.
