The 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in round 32 of the Premier League helped Tottenham return to the Top 4 after two months.
The turning point of the match came in the 53rd minute, when centre-back Micky van de Ven scored a superb goal to give the home team a 2-1 lead. From a pass from captain Son Heung-min, the Dutch centre-back fired a powerful shot from a distance of more than 10 metres, sending the ball close to the high post, leaving goalkeeper Matz Sels rooted to the spot as the ball flew into the net.

Just five minutes after Van de Ven's goal, Tottenham secured victory with a third. From James Maddison's cross on the left, Rodrigo Bentancur rushed in to head the ball but missed but it flew right into Pedro Porro's path on the right. The Spanish defender took a beautiful first touch and sent the ball into the far corner, giving the away goalkeeper no chance to save.
Tottenham's victory was marked by their defence, not to mention their first goal, an own goal from centre-back Murillo. Ange Postecoglou's side have now reached 60 points this season, equalling their tally for the entirety of last season. They still have seven games left this season, the first of which is a trip to Newcastle at St James Park.
Tottenham also returned to the Top 4 after one round, the first time since February 2024. Their form is much better than their competitor Aston Villa. In the last five rounds, Tottenham earned 10 points, twice as many as their opponent. The gap between them and the sixth-placed team Man Utd has also increased to 11 points. Therefore, in the event that the Premier League has five Champions League spots this season, Tottenham is considered to have a place in hand.
