Xuan Son has given up crutches to walk lightly.
Nguyen Xuan Son underwent a successful surgery on January 6. Since then, during his recovery, the Brazilian striker has regularly updated his fans with recovery photos on his social media pages. Accordingly, the naturalized striker's condition has shown new progress.
On February 7, Xuan Son posted a short clip about his exercises. In it, the striker currently playing for Nam Dinh Club was able to put down his crutches to practice walking lightly, with the support of 2 handrails on both sides. This is good news for Vietnamese fans, as the striker born in 1997 is said to be recovering well. Currently, Xuan Son is in the second phase of the rehabilitation process.

It is known that Nguyen Xuan Son's rehabilitation process is divided into 4 main stages, each stage has specific goals and treatment methods to ensure that the player can return to competition with the best performance. Stage 1 is pain control and neuromuscular activation (first 1-2 weeks after surgery) with the goal of controlling pain, reducing swelling, preventing complications such as muscle atrophy or joint stiffness by using cold compresses, electrical stimulation machines, and gentle exercises such as leg flexion and extension. Stage 2 is strengthening and improving range of motion (from week 3 to month 2) with the goal of strengthening muscles, improving joint range of motion by physical therapy methods such as light leg lifts, exercises with elastic bands, and biofeedback machines.
Phase 3 is comprehensive rehabilitation and physical preparation (from month 3 to month 5) with the goal of comprehensive rehabilitation of motor function, physical preparation for high-intensity training by means of light jogging, ball training, strengthening of the whole body, and improvement of balance. Phase 4 is high-intensity training and movement analysis testing (from month 6 onwards) with the goal of returning to maximum intensity training and being ready for competition. The method used is specialized soccer training such as sprinting, change of direction, and light collision, movement analysis testing to assess recovery ability.
Absent from the first two matches of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers
Xuan Son needs at least 6 months to recover before returning to football. The Brazilian striker will definitely be absent for the rest of the 2024-2025 V-League (ending in June this year). In the Vietnamese national team, the striker born in 1997 will also not be able to appear in the first stage of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
