"I think we're also doing very well with Russia, with Ukraine. We hope to resolve that at some point in the not-too-distant future. It's a complicated issue, but we'll resolve it," US President Donald Trump told reporters before meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on February 4.

President Trump also said Washington was engaged in “constructive” talks with both Russia and Ukraine.

"We're having very good talks, constructive talks on Ukraine and we're talking to Russia, talking to the Ukrainian leadership," Trump told reporters at a joint news conference with Israel's prime minister.

"We're having very good talks and I think we're going to get something, hopefully a significant change, on everything," the White House boss added.

Earlier, Mr. Trump announced that significant progress had been made in resolving the Ukraine conflict.

"We've made a lot of progress with Russia, Ukraine," President Trump told reporters on February 3, but did not elaborate on the comment.

"We'll see what happens. But a lot of progress has been made. We have to end this ridiculous war," Trump added.

President Trump said the US government has planned meetings and contacts with both Russia and Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kiev was prepared to enter negotiations to end its nearly three-year war with Russia.

"If people believe that we have to move to a diplomatic path, and I believe that we are ready to move to a diplomatic path, then there must be America, Europe, Ukraine and Russia," Zelensky told British journalist Piers Morgan in an interview aired on Morgan's YouTube channel.

Mr Zelensky said that if sitting across from Russian President Vladimir Putin at the negotiating table "is the only way we can bring peace to the Ukrainian people, we will definitely do this, to have a meeting with four parties involved".

President Zelensky said his team had spoken with President Trump’s national security adviser and Trump’s top envoy to Ukraine this week. Zelensky said the sides were working to arrange a visit by the US delegation.

Ukrainian President Andriy Yermak's chief of staff spoke with President Trump's National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, while Zelensky administration officials spoke with Keith Kellogg, Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia.

Mr. Yermak said he discussed with US officials the situation on the battlefield and progress in mobilizing troops to replenish Ukraine’s manpower. In addition, the two sides also discussed the need to organize personal contacts between President Zelensky and President Trump.
