This information was mentioned by Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Van Hoi when answering at the regular Government press conference in January about policies to attract workers back after Tet.
Deputy Minister Hoi emphasized that the 52 million people in the labor force play an extremely important role in ensuring production and business of the economy and enterprises.
The leader of the Ministry of Labor also pointed out the fact that after Tet, a number of workers, for reasons such as taking extra leave, changing jobs or changing residence, led to a local labor shortage in some factories and localities.
Anticipating this situation, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has instructed localities to synchronously implement many solutions to ensure stable labor markets, including strengthening the connection between labor supply and demand, and regulating and contributing to stabilizing the market before, during and after Tet.
The Ministry of Labor has also urged localities and enterprises to properly implement policies on wages and bonuses for employees in enterprises, especially industrial parks and export processing zones, according to Deputy Minister Hoi.
In addition, the Deputy Minister said that many factories have organized buses to take workers back to their hometowns and to bring them back to the city and industrial centers after Tet. "This is a very good policy that businesses have implemented," Mr. Hoi commented.
In particular, according to the leader of the Ministry of Labor, businesses are also timely, announcing lucky money and bonuses when workers return to the factory after Tet. "In places with urgent orders, companies also have attractive lucky money policies, from 500,000 VND to 2 million VND," the Deputy Minister cited.
Up to now, in industrial parks and export processing zones in Hanoi, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Dong Nai, Binh Duong... most workers have returned to work after Tet holiday, many localities reaching 97-98%, some places reaching 100%.
According to the assessment of the leaders of the Ministry of Labor, localities and enterprises have implemented wage policies well. The average salary of employees in 2024 reached nearly 9 million VND/month, an increase compared to 2023, and the average bonus for the Lunar New Year of At Ty was 7.72 million VND/person, an increase of 13% compared to the bonus for the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin (6.85 million VND/person).
Providing more information about social security work during the recent Lunar New Year, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Hoi said that the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has established a working group, and the Ministry's leaders directly inspected the work of ensuring social security.
The working delegation also visited and encouraged civil servants, public employees, workers, and policy beneficiaries, workers on duty on New Year's Eve, worked through the Lunar New Year, and gave gifts to people in difficult circumstances.
Provinces and cities also allocate most of their local budgets to support poor and near-poor households from 300,000-500,000 VND/household, some localities have support levels from 500,000 VND to 1.5 million VND such as: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hue, Binh Thuan, Binh Duong...
"Social security work during Tet has been carried out effectively and practically, following the motto of not leaving anyone behind. According to reports from localities, during the 2025 Tet holiday, the whole country has supported and given Tet gifts to over 13.5 million beneficiaries with a total budget of nearly 8,000 billion VND," informed the leader of the Ministry of Labor.
Regarding the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, according to statistics, localities have built 88,000 new houses and handed them over to disadvantaged households to live in before Tet.
