Russian President Vladimir Putin gave an interview to state-run Rossiya 1 television on January 28. Putin said that if Ukraine wanted to negotiate, Russia would send representatives to participate in the process. However, the leader also made it clear that Ukrainian President Zelensky was not the "right person" to lead the negotiation efforts this time and Moscow has so far not seen any real willingness to negotiate from Kiev. According to the Kremlin leader, if the two sides want to negotiate and find a compromise, Ukraine needs to find the right negotiator and Moscow will fight for what suits its interests. In a statement posted on social network X shortly afterwards, President Zelensky rejected his Russian counterpart's statements. (Photo cut from clip)
