General Secretary To Lam visits and works at Missile Brigade 490

According to the General Secretary, it is necessary to continuously improve the overall quality and combat readiness of the Artillery Corps.

On the morning of February 10, in Hai Duong province, General Secretary To Lam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission, visited and worked at Missile Brigade 490 (Artillery Corps).

Accompanying the General Secretary were Mr. Phan Dinh Trac, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission; Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission; General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Public Security Party Committee, Minister of Public Security; Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Ho Duc Phoc, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister; leaders of Hai Duong province, leaders of the General Secretary's Office; leaders of the Ministry of National Defense's functional agencies, etc.

Reporting at the visit and working session, Major General Nguyen Hong Phong, Commander of the Artillery Corps, said that established on June 29, 1946, after nearly 80 years of construction, fighting and growing up, participating in the resistance wars against French colonialism, American imperialism and the war to protect the Fatherland, the Artillery Corps has excellently completed its tasks and has been awarded many noble prizes by the Party and the State.

The Corps has 83 collective units, 17 officers and soldiers honored by the State with the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces; of which 6 units were honored twice with the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

In particular, the Corps was awarded the eight golden words "Brass feet, iron shoulders, good fighting, accurate shooting" by Uncle Ho, which has become the glorious tradition of the Heroic Artillery Corps.

The Artillery Corps has closely followed and implemented the Central Military Commission's resolution, the 2024 military and defense work order of the Chief of the General Staff, especially the year's work theme "The year of basically completing the adjustment of the force organization towards being lean, compact, and strong".

Units strictly maintain combat readiness; regularly review and adjust the system of combat documents, organize drills to ensure unit safety, especially during holidays, Tet and important events of the nation and the Army.

The Artillery Corps has done a good job of preparing and practicing training according to the prescribed program. It has successfully completed the task of firing ceremonial artillery to welcome international guests and celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory; participated in and directed many large-scale exercises with the Ministry of National Defense, all of which were completed excellently and with absolute safety; successfully completed the tasks of scientific research and cooperation in manufacturing artillery weapons and equipment, participating in military exhibitions organized by the Ministry of National Defense and activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day.

The Artillery Corps has done a good job in ideological work, organizational work and policy work, so 100% of officers and soldiers are assured in their work, successfully completing assigned tasks; well organizing field trips to do mass mobilization work, participating in building new rural areas; participating in overcoming natural disasters and fighting forest fires in the stationed area; actively and proactively deploying preparations for Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term; ensuring good weapons and technical equipment for training tasks, combat readiness; participating in military-wide logistics and technical competitions with high results.

Speaking at the visit and working session, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State, and Central Military Commission, General Secretary To Lam praised the 490th Missile Brigade for its efforts in training and combat readiness, meeting requirements and tasks.

The General Secretary noted that the world is undergoing many changes with complex, unpredictable and hard-to-predict developments. The country has achieved great achievements after 95 years under the leadership of the Party and 40 years of implementing the renovation process. Vietnam's position, power and international reputation are increasingly strong and widespread, however, we must not "rest on our laurels" or lose our vigilance for even a minute.

To successfully complete the assigned tasks in the new period, the General Secretary requested to continue to thoroughly grasp the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 11th Military Party Congress, the resolutions and directives of the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense to concretize and effectively implement them in the Artillery Corps and Brigades.

Units need to thoroughly educate officers and soldiers to firmly grasp the requirements of combat, the objects of combat, the responsibilities and tasks of the unit and of the individual, the requirements and high demands of the task of protecting the Fatherland, so that they can have the right awareness, determination and effort in performing and completing all assigned tasks, both regular and unexpected.

Political and ideological education for cadres and soldiers must be carried out regularly and continuously. Cadres must set an example for soldiers and thoroughly instill the ideology of "people first, guns later" in soldiers. The spirit of "Dien Bien Phu in the air" must be used as the training target for missile troops...

The General Secretary emphasized that it is necessary to take advantage of every opportunity to constantly improve the overall quality, combat readiness and combat capability of the Artillery Corps in a revolutionary, standardized, elite and modern direction; to build a comprehensively strong Missile Brigade 490 "Exemplary, typical", to excellently complete assigned tasks; to truly be worthy of being the main firepower of the Army and the main ground firepower of our Army.

The General Secretary pointed out the focus on improving the quality of training and combat readiness in accordance with the motto and principles with the determination of "fighting is winning"; attaching importance to synchronous and in-depth training in a modern direction, focusing on practice, skillfully using technical equipment and weapons in the establishment, especially new technical equipment and weapons; strengthening training close to the tasks, targets, areas, and combat plans...

Researching the application of information technology and digital transformation in training and troop management, building databases in training management and operations; paying close attention to ensuring the confidentiality of equipment, technical means, communications, combat plans, and new weapons.

The General Secretary requested to perfect and build a lean, compact, strong, mobile, flexible organization, in accordance with military art and weapons and equipment. Improve the quality of regular construction, maintain strict discipline; take care to ensure good living conditions for soldiers, policies for officers and soldiers, and policies for the army's rear.

On the basis of effective exploitation and mastery of technical equipment, it is necessary to focus on improving and enhancing the quality of technical equipment, maintaining it well, using it durably, safely and economically to meet the requirements of performing assigned tasks.

The General Secretary emphasized the need to regularly take care of building the Brigade Party Committee to successfully and excellently complete its tasks; to carry out well the study and follow of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, the Campaign to promote tradition, contribute talent, worthy of the title "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new period; to continue to improve the comprehensive leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Brigade Party Committee and Party organizations in the unit. To build a contingent of cadres and party members who are truly exemplary vanguards, who practice what they preach; cadres and soldiers with steadfast political will, absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland and the people; with good moral qualities, good technical and tactical skills, always ready to receive and successfully complete assigned tasks.

With the glorious tradition of "Active, proactive, comprehensive progress," the General Secretary believes that under the regular and close leadership of the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense, the Standing Committee of the Artillery Corps Party Committee, the enthusiastic support of the Party committees, authorities, organizations, local people and friendly units; promoting internal strength to the fullest, the 490th Missile Brigade will certainly successfully and excellently complete the assigned tasks, making important contributions to the cause of building the Artillery Corps, building a strong Vietnam People's Army, and excellently completing the task of protecting the Fatherland in the new period.

Previously, General Secretary To Lam and the delegation planted a souvenir tree at the 490th Missile Brigade Command Headquarters; visited and inspected the actual implementation of a simulated missile launch mission at the Brigade Stadium.
