(Dan Tri) - After some irregularities in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year, all public schools in Dak Lak will organize entrance exams in the 2025-2026 school year.
On February 10, Mr. Nguyen Thien Van, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, signed and issued the plan for admission to grade 10 high school for the 2025-2026 school year in the province. According to the plan, all public high schools will organize admission by entrance exam.
Private high schools, the Central Highlands Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities, the Sports Training and Competition Center and the Central Highlands Practical High School will develop their own enrollment plans, based on the plan of the Provincial People's Committee and must be approved by the Department of Education and Training.
Public high schools will enroll students according to the quota of the Department of Education and Training, ensuring the classification of students after graduating from junior high school and the enrollment route, focusing on the proportion of students from local ethnic minorities such as Ede, Mnong, and Gia Rai.
The entrance exam for grade 10 will be based on the general education program for junior high school, mainly grade 9, according to the structure issued by the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training. The general subjects include math, literature and a third subject; candidates applying to Nguyen Du High School for the Gifted will take an additional specialized subject.
Students who register their first choice at a specialized school can register their second choice at another public high school according to the district People's Committee's zoning.
Students from districts such as Krong Pak, Krong Nang, and Buon Ma Thuot city can register up to 2 wishes, while students from other districts can only register 1 wish.
Students who pass their first choice will not be considered for their second choice.
Previously, the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year in Dak Lak attracted attention with only 12 schools holding the exam, including 9 public high schools and 3 specialized schools, with 8,000 candidates participating.
The exam results have a big difference, when the admission score at district-level schools is only 5 to 6 points, while schools in Buon Ma Thuot city require over 15 points.
Notably, the entire province had nearly 1,900 failing scores, causing many schools to not meet enrollment targets. The Department of Education and Training had to lower the benchmark scores to accommodate the number of students. This exam caused a stir in public opinion and received attention from provincial leaders, who directed efforts to improve the quality of education.
