In 2025, the University of Information Technology (VNU-HCM) plans to enroll the first course of Multimedia Communications and open a number of new programs.
In 2025, the University of Information Technology under the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City plans to open new majors and add new combinations. According to the 2025 enrollment plan, the University of Information Technology plans to enroll 14 regular university majors.
Among them are many key majors such as computer science, artificial intelligence, information security and microchip design. The school plans to enroll the first class of Multimedia Communications and the joint program with the University of Newcastle, Australia with the Computer Engineering major.
Regarding the admission combinations, in addition to the admission combinations as in 2024, it is expected to add some new combinations with Informatics subjects such as Math - English - Informatics, Math - Physics - Informatics to suit the new high school program.

This year, the school is expected to use three admission methods:
Method 1: Direct admission and priority admission .
University of Information Technology plans to apply direct admission policy and give priority to the following subjects:
Candidates are admitted directly according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; Excellent and talented candidates are recommended by the principal of the high school and meet specific criteria such as good academic performance, good conduct, and outstanding achievements in learning.
Candidates on the list of 149 high schools with priority for admission to Ho Chi Minh City National University (from 2026, priority will only be given to specialized/gifted students); Candidates with high scores in prestigious exams (Informatics Olympiad, Road to Olympia, ICPC, SEA Games, ASIAD, ...); Candidates with prestigious international certificates (SAT, ACT, A level, IB) with satisfactory results.
Method 2: Admission based on the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025.
Admission score = National High School Exam score + Priority score (if any). Priority score includes international language certificates (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, JLPT, etc.) and priority for subjects and regions according to regulations of VNU-HCM and the Ministry of Education and Training.
Admission score is calculated on a scale of 1,200, with a maximum of 1,200 points.
Method 3: Admission based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam.
Admission score = High school graduation exam score of admission subject group + Priority score (if any). Priority score includes international language certificates (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, JLPT) and priority for subjects and regions according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Admission score is calculated on a 30-point scale, with a maximum of 30 points.
In addition, the school also considers admission based on its own criteria for joint programs: joint program with Birmingham City University - UK, with degrees awarded by Birmingham City University (majoring in computer science, computer networks and information security); joint program with Newcastle University, Australia (expected to start enrolling in 2025 majoring in computer systems engineering).
