This shipment includes typical Vietnamese culinary products such as fish sauce, vermicelli, pho, spices, tea and coffee with a total value of nearly 70,000 USD.

International progress

Under this partnership, domestically produced products will be sold at H-Mart, a Korean supermarket chain with more than 100 stores across the United States, known for serving the Asian community in the U.S. The partnership with H-Mart not only helps Vietnamese expatriates but also Americans access and experience high-quality products with a strong Vietnamese identity.

Mr. Tran Anh Quang - Director of SCD Company - said that this export shipment to the US is part of SCD's larger plan to export more than 20 containers in the last quarter of 2024 to global markets such as the US, South Korea, Japan, Australia, China and the Middle East.

This international step builds on the success of previous exports. In September 2024, SCD successfully exported two containers to Canada, also in cooperation with Hee Chang Group, owner of the H-Mart retail chain. SCD's activities actively contribute to the export sector of Saigon Co.op.

Before the US market, every year, through a joint venture with NTUC FairPrice, Co.opXtra, a retail model of Saigon Co.op, has also exported 200 - 300 tons of domestic goods including agricultural products (bananas, dragon fruit, melons, bell peppers, pepper, cooking oil...), seafood (shrimp, pangasius fillets...) to the Singapore market with a total export value of nearly 90 billion VND.

In particular, SCD's cooperation with STC Natural Vina and other global partners emphasizes Saigon Co.op's ambition to bring Vietnamese products to the world. Mr. Tran Anh Quang, Director of SCD, shared: "These commercial contracts open up new opportunities for Vietnamese goods to penetrate the largest and most potential markets in the world."

Mr. Yun SuBong, director of STC Natural Vina, expressed his excitement about the partnership, emphasizing that cooperation with Vietnam's leading retailer not only benefits both parties but also promotes economic and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Korea.

Will expand export product portfolio

SCD’s efforts have made an important contribution to Saigon Co.op’s export development. Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc, General Director of Saigon Co.op, said that expanding the export market is in line with the company’s vision, with the orientation of being an important factor in promoting Vietnamese goods to the world, while enhancing economic and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and other countries.

In order to successfully export to markets with high quality control requirements such as the US, Saigon Co.op has continuously improved its production process and enhanced product quality to meet strict international standards. The careful selection of raw materials and the use of modern technology in production and packaging are factors that help Saigon Co.op affirm its brand reputation and build trust from international partners and consumers.

In addition, Saigon Co.op also pays special attention to sustainability and food safety, important criteria in the current global consumption trend. Ensuring that exported products are certified for food safety and hygiene, while complying with environmental protection standards, not only helps businesses affirm their position but also creates sustainable value for the markets they are targeting.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc, one of the factors that helped Saigon Co.op achieve success in exporting is the strategy of building strategic partnerships with international retail corporations.

Through these relationships, Saigon Co.op not only has a stable distribution channel but also has the opportunity to learn experience in supply chain management and logistics optimization. Furthermore, cooperation with partners such as H-Mart or joint ventures with NTUC FairPrice also helps Saigon Co.op grasp consumer trends and tastes of international customers, thereby adjusting product strategies to suit each market.

As a subsidiary of Saigon Co.op, SCD plays a key role in importing and distributing premium products nationwide. SCD is the exclusive distributor for famous brands such as Parker & Waterman from Newell Rubbermaid (UK), personal care products such as Pantene and Olay from P&G (USA), and nutritional products from Vitaplan (New Zealand).

With continuous efforts to expand internationally, Saigon Co.op's products are increasingly known not only for their high quality but also for their rich Vietnamese culinary and cultural quintessence. "Successful export of Vietnamese agricultural products and specialties also helps strengthen the role of Vietnamese enterprises in global trade and meet the growing demand for high-quality Vietnamese products in the international market. We plan to boost exports, aiming for 120 to 150 containers with an estimated value of about VND120 billion in 2025," said Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc.

The US market is one of the most demanding markets, with high demands on product quality as well as food safety standards. The fact that Saigon Co.op can bring its products to the H-Mart supermarket chain shows that many goods produced in Vietnam have overcome technical barriers as well as met strict requirements on safety, quality and origin, promoting the image and brand of Vietnam to the international consumer market.
