Vietnam Press Museum works with leaders of Tra Vinh Journalists Association and veteran journalists.
According to journalist Tran Thi Kim Hoa, in parallel with welcoming visitors and organizing events, seminars, and thematic exhibitions, the Vietnam Press Museum continues to promote the plan to collect images, documents, and press artifacts through the periods to enrich the press exhibition space of 63 provinces and cities in the museum's regular exhibition system, better serving the needs of domestic and international visitors.
“When coming to the Museum, through exploring the development of the press in provinces and cities, visitors can learn more about the history of the country, its people, the history of the resilient and heroic revolutionary struggles of localities and regions across the country as well as typical press publications through the periods that are richly introduced in the Museum's exhibition spaces” - Journalist Tran Thi Kim Hoa hopes.
2. In each province, the delegation had a working session with veteran journalists, the Journalists Association, Party newspapers, Radio and television stations, Literature and Arts Magazines, Museums and Libraries. In each place, stories about the history of journalism associated with each locality were vividly told through real people, real events and valuable artifacts. Receiving the delegation in Tra Vinh, Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association Tang Chi Huan and Vice Chairman Son Hung introduced the history of Tra Vinh journalism, the role of information orientation, and ideological work of the press in the province, especially in areas with many ethnic minorities.
The leaders of the Tra Vinh Journalists Association created favorable conditions for the working group to collect publications and digital copies of Anh Dung, Vinh Tra, Tra Vinh Newspapers... reflecting the development process of the press in the province. From that meeting, those working in the museum can imagine a highlight in the flow of the press nationwide. Tra Vinh press was established and put into operation since the Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee was established in 1930 with the Co Bua Liem newspaper; then during the resistance war against the French, Tra Vinh newspaper was born in 1947 under the direct management of the Information and Propaganda Department. In 1960, after the Tra Vinh Provincial National Liberation Front Committee was established, the Tra Vinh Provincial Propaganda Department also established the Press and News Subcommittee and published the Anh Dung newspaper. In February 1976, Tra Vinh and Vinh Long provinces merged into Cuu Long province. Anh Dung Newspaper (Tra Vinh province) and Vinh Long Giai Phong Newspaper (Vinh Long province) were also merged into Vinh Tra Newspaper and then renamed Cuu Long Newspaper. After the separation of the province in 1992, Tra Vinh press agencies were reorganized and have been operating continuously until today.
Coming to Vinh Long province, the working delegation exploited documents and artifacts of Vinh Long journalism from 1928 - 2023. Journalist Nguyen Thi Hong Thu - Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Journalists Association, along with veteran journalists of Vinh Long province, representatives of press agencies, Museums, and Provincial Library shared many interesting stories about journalism, images, and documents about Vinh Long journalism to help the delegation have more documents to serve the activities that the Vietnam Press Museum is carrying out.
After the working session, the delegation visited the press agencies, the provincial Library and Museum to collect images and artifacts related to press activities through the periods. The predecessor newspapers of Vinh Long press appeared after the establishment of the first Party cell at Long Ho Crossroads (1928) and other information agencies, regardless of their names, all undertook the task of disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies; exposing the enemy's plots and crimes and encouraging the revolutionary movement of the people in the province... That is, the Cong Nong Binh newspaper (since 1929), Lao Kho (since 1930), Chien Thang (since 1946), Thong Tin Vinh Long (since 1947), Thong Tin Vinh Tra (since 1951) and then continuing during the resistance war against the US with the names: Hoa Binh Thong Nhat (since 1954), Ken Giai Phong (since 1960), Giai Phong (since 1965), Quyet Thang (since 1968) then changed its name to Vinh Long Giai Phong after the historic victory on April 30, 1975 and is now Vinh Long Newspaper... Along with that, the provincial Radio and Television Station and Cuu Long Magazine became important press channels that contributed a lot to the development of the province.
After the complete liberation of the South, the departments of the News - Press Subcommittee were separated into Vinh Long Giai Phong Newspaper under the leadership and management of the Provincial Party Committee, the Vietnam News Agency Branch in Vinh Long province under the Vietnam News Agency, and the remaining departments under the Department of Information and Post of the province.
Vinh Tra Newspaper published on March 16, 1977.
3. Sharing about the impressions in the journey to find artifacts, Quang Minh museum staff said: What makes us proud is that we were able to go, come, feel and see many valuable documents about the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press. One of the destinations that left an impression was in An Giang. Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association Tan Van Ngu and representatives of press agencies received the delegation and presented many documents and artifacts about An Giang press such as An Giang Newspaper publications through the periods, yearbooks and artifacts from the provincial Radio and Television Station, That Son Magazine of the Literature and Arts Association, many publications of districts, towns and agencies in the province. An Giang press agencies matured during the resistance war, were well organized after the country's reunification and have always kept the revolutionary fire through each word until today.
…The revolutionary fire through each word seems to have contributed to creating a great motivation for those working in the Museum to continue their journey to search for artifacts about journalism in provinces and cities across the country. Entering 2024, the unit's key tasks are set out to include events and thematic exhibitions at the National Press Festival and on major national holidays, towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day and the 75th anniversary of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School; Continuing to focus all resources on maximizing the historical value of the country's journalism heritage, successfully implementing the Project to restore and embellish the National Monument of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School and major programs,...
In addition, the Museum will continue to put the activities of guiding and welcoming visitors into order, increase the organization of seminars, exchanges, and professional experience exchanges with visiting delegations; continue to promote the activities of the Museum to the public through the Museum's communication channels, through mass media and at events organized by the Museum; Focus on online communication and public education. Regularly maintain contact with domestic and foreign organizations, strengthen professional cooperation, focus on in-depth and extensive communication about the history of journalism to the public and international friends...
In particular, the leaders of the Press Museum also emphasized that the trips to search for artifacts will continue to be maintained and these are also the key tasks of the unit in 2024. The Museum plans to continue to collect in some remaining provinces such as Lai Chau, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Hau Giang, Tien Giang ... as a way to best preserve the "revolutionary fire" in the artifacts, as well as a way to preserve the professional fire for those working at the Press Museum.
