(BGDT) - On May 18, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation (VBD) coordinated with the Luc Ngan District Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation to organize the 2nd Voluntary Blood Donation Festival in 2023.

The festival attracted more than 800 cadres, civil servants, public employees, armed forces, and workers in the area. Among them, there were some individuals who had donated blood many times.

To facilitate blood donors, the Organizing Committee has arranged areas for: registration, blood pressure and heart rate measurement, health screening, blood collection and divided time slots for each registration unit.

After one day, the Organizing Committee received 1,130 units of safe blood. All of the blood was transferred to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to supplement the blood bank, serving emergency and patient treatment work.

Thus, through two blood donation campaigns (the first one was held in January), the Luc Ngan District Blood Donation Steering Committee received 2,182 units of blood, exceeding 45.5% of the plan assigned by the superiors. To achieve that result, in recent times, the District Blood Donation Steering Committee has actively promoted and raised people's awareness of the noble humanitarian meaning of blood donation; thereby, creating a strong spreading effect, arousing the spirit of solidarity, mutual love and mutual assistance in the community.

Since the beginning of the year, the whole province has organized 21 blood donation festivals, receiving more than 15 thousand units of safe blood according to the standards of the Ministry of Health.
