Swiss President and Defense Minister Viola Amherd said she has requested a budget of 4.9 billion francs ($5.5 billion) to strengthen the capacity of military forces in the coming time.
According to Reuters, President Viola Amherd added that by 2035, there will be about 20 billion Swiss francs ($22.58 billion) in additional funding.
Secretary Amherd emphasized that this is the first time that the US Congress has determined the long-term strategic direction of the armed forces' capabilities. Accordingly, 10 strategic areas have been identified including leadership and networking; artificial intelligence and integrated sensors; impact against air targets; impact against ground targets; impact in cyberspace and electromagnetic space; logistics, transportation operations...
In addition to purchasing new military equipment and improving communications systems, Switzerland will also build a new data center dedicated to the military and upgrade several bases.
