Thac Mo Hydropower Plant: Using electricity in a civilized and economical way

Báo Bình PhướcBáo Bình Phước30/06/2023

Due to the prolonged drought, the reservoirs of large-capacity hydropower plants dried up, and thermal power plants were also mobilized but still could not supply enough for the load. Therefore, in June 2023, there was a power shortage, significantly affecting production and people's lives.

As of June 14, the water level of Thac Mo hydropower reservoir was 199.76m (1.76m above the dead water level). TMP continues to proactively regulate to ensure maintaining the minimum average flow downstream (50-55m 3 /s) until the end of the 2023 dry season, while generating electricity to supply capacity to the system. At low pressure columns, to generate 1kWh of electricity, the turbine consumes more water volume, specifically at a water level of 218m, the water loss rate is 3.9m 3 /kWh; at a water level of 198m, the water loss rate is 4.7m 3 /kWh.

The force operates and closely monitors high-capacity technological equipment, uses electricity reasonably, and saves every kWh of self-consumed electricity.

In the situation of power source overload, in order to reduce the burden of the system, TMP has actively promoted the effective and economical use of electricity and water resources on the media; maximized the capacity of control and monitoring equipment, and used electricity economically and effectively in the operation of power generation technology equipment.

In production, TMP uses energy economically and effectively by applying management and technical measures to reduce energy consumption of technological equipment while still ensuring safety and efficiency for the production process; forming civilized habits in using energy sources in production.

The propaganda "Saving electricity becomes a habit" appears regularly on the website tmhpp.com.vn

The power plant makes the most of natural light during the day, and turns on the lights at the appropriate light level in the evening.

On the other hand, TMP regularly promotes electricity saving to all staff, employees, and workers in the company, raising awareness of electricity saving in the workplace, encouraging good habits such as: turning off the lights when leaving the room, turning off the power source of computers, printers, photocopiers, and other power consuming devices when working hours are over; periodically cleaning and maintaining air conditioning equipment; installing a temperature sensor system to warn if the temperature is above or below the specified temperature; making the most of natural light, using sensor switches to automatically turn on/off public lighting; replacing old, low-efficiency lighting with high-efficiency lighting, LED lights, etc.
