Prime Minister approves election results of Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee

On September 11, the Government Office announced that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had just signed a Decision approving the election results of the Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee for Mr. Tran Hong Thai, Deputy Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee.

Previously, on August 23, the People's Council of Lam Dong province, term X, held the 17th session to elect Mr. Tran Hong Thai, Deputy Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, to hold the position of Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

Mr. Tran Hong Thai (born in 1974, hometown in Can Loc, Ha Tinh province). In 1997, he graduated from university with a degree in Engineering and Technology, majoring in Automation of Thermal Process Control in Russia.

In 2005, he defended his PhD thesis in Earth Sciences and Mathematics at Heidelberg University (Federal Republic of Germany).

In 2011, Mr. Tran Hong Thai was recognized as Associate Professor of Earth Sciences, interdisciplinary Earth Sciences - Mining. In 2019, he was recognized as Professor of Earth Sciences, interdisciplinary Earth Sciences - Mining.

During his career, Mr. Thai was a researcher at the Institute of Hydrometeorology, then became the leader of this Institute. He was then transferred to be Deputy General Director of the National Center for Hydrometeorology, and promoted to Deputy General Director of the General Department of Hydrometeorology.

In April 2018, Mr. Tran Hong Thai was assigned to be in charge of the General Department of Hydrometeorology.

In March 2019, he was appointed Director General of the General Department of Hydrometeorology.

In 2023, Mr. Tran Hong Thai was transferred and appointed as Deputy Minister of Science and Technology.

On August 23, the Secretariat assigned Mr. Tran Hong Thai to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
