The festival was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang; leaders and former leaders of the Party and State; leaders of central and local departments, ministries and branches, domestic and international friends.
In his opening speech, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung affirmed that, implementing the direction of the Central Government, Hai Phong City attaches special importance to the cultural values and spiritual life of the people, which are both the driving force, the endogenous strength, and the source of all development. Therefore, the Red Flamboyant Festival has been held since 2012. During the annual festival, hundreds of events are held, leaving good impressions on the city's residents and visitors.
Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung reviewed the glorious tradition of Hai Phong. Accordingly, on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of Hai Phong's liberation, looking back at the historical journey, Hai Phong is the place "at the forefront of the waves and winds", the "eastern fence" to protect the Fatherland. Hai Phong City is always proud of its tradition of bravery and determination to win, evidenced from the time of Female General Le Chan reclaiming and establishing Trang An Bien, now Hai Phong, to the historic Bach Dang River associated with many glorious and heroic feats of our ancestors to gain independence for the nation.
In the early 20th century, Hai Phong was the cradle of the Vietnamese working class, the place that leader Nguyen Ai Quoc chose as a "bridge" to spread Marxism-Leninism to our country. During the years of resistance war to save the country, Hai Phong was both the frontline and the rear. In the early years of the renovation period, Hai Phong was a locality with many breakthroughs, so it suggested and contributed to the Central Committee to issue Directive 100 and Resolution 10 on "contracting in agriculture".
In recent years, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and conflicts in Europe, Hai Phong's economic growth rate has remained high, with a gross regional domestic product (GRDP) of 13.2% per year for 7 consecutive years. In the first 3 months of 2023, Hai Phong's GRDP was 3 times higher than the national average. Hai Phong has been focusing on investing in building a regional transportation system to expand economic space, expand urban areas towards the sea and move the Political-Administrative center to the North of the Cam River by 2025. Along with that, Hai Phong is the leading locality in the country in resolving old apartment buildings and is striving to be a leader in developing social housing, while actively building model new rural communes and districts with criteria approaching urban areas and will be completed in 2025.
The Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) has been consistently ranked among the top in the country in recent years, and digital transformation has received special attention. Hai Phong continues to take the lead in caring for families with revolutionary contributions, supporting the poor, exempting tuition fees for all levels of education, and providing many other practical supports to the people. Party building and Party rectification work continues to be strengthened; national defense and security and order in border and island areas are maintained.
Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung affirmed that with historical tradition, along with the above results and goals, it is an important premise and motivation for Hai Phong to strive to lead the country in the cause of industrialization and modernization and truly "become the driving force for the development of the whole country".
The art program consists of 3 chapters. Chapter 1, titled "City of the Rising Sun", is a story about the land and people of Hai Phong with a rich history and culture and traditional values with brave and resilient people who have joined hands to build the brand of the port city.
Chapter 2, titled "Red Phoenix Heart", is for young people who are joining hands to inherit the foundations passed down to develop a youthful and dynamic Port City with a timeless vision to continue the legacy of their ancestors.
Chapter 3, titled "Hai Phong - Shining in the coastal area", is a picture of the bright future of a super seaport city, a 4.0 technology city, symbolizing the vision and aspiration of Hai Phong with a new look, a new image of a creative city of the future.
Participating in the art program are famous domestic artists and singers. Most special is the performance of the theme song written specifically for the Red Flamboyant Festival called "Hai Phong - Shining the coastal region" with unique and new effects from drones. This is also the performance that closes the art program, bringing the message of a Hai Phong promoting the tradition of "Moderation, determination to win", the efforts of innovation, daring to think, daring to do, arousing the strength of the entire people, bringing Hai Phong into a new period of development with new marks, worthy of being "the driving force of development of the Northern region and the whole country", soon "becoming a modern, civilized, sustainable industrial city of the Southeast Asian region".
