On February 8, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation visited and worked at THACO Chu Lai, Quang Nam. Accompanying the delegation were representatives of leaders of ministries, central agencies and Quang Nam province.
At the meeting, THACO Chairman Tran Ba Duong reported on the Group's production and business results in 2024 and the plan for 2025. After more than two decades of development, THACO Chu Lai has now become a center for mechanical engineering and supporting industries, a logistics center of the Central region, especially for transporting container goods for the Northern Cambodia, Southern Laos and Central Highlands regions. In 2024, THACO Chu Lai completed and put into operation a 50,000-ton port - a project assigned by the Prime Minister during his visit 2 years ago (March 2022); invested in a series of new factories, especially the R&D Center with a team of 1,000 design engineers and full testing equipment, along with processes meeting international requirements.
In 2025, THACO will continue to invest heavily in the automobile, mechanical engineering and supporting industries, boosting exports. In the logistics sector, THACO will invest in 02 container ships with a capacity of 1,800 Teu/ship to operate the international shipping route from Chu Lai to Xiamen and Shanghai ports (China), connecting to ports in North China, Korea, Japan, Europe, the US and vice versa; at the same time, invest in the Cua Lo route, helping to reduce logistics costs in the Central region, equal to the two ends of the South - North, attracting businesses to invest in the Central region.
“The Prime Minister's instructions during his visit and work with THACO in 2022 are the goal and motivation for the Group to develop. On this occasion, the Prime Minister visited and wished a Happy New Year, the leadership and employees of THACO were very excited, and committed to continue developing production and business, thereby developing the local and national economy,” emphasized Chairman of the Board of Directors Tran Ba Duong.
After visiting and surveying THACO Chu Lai Industrial Park and listening to the report, the Prime Minister commended and highly appreciated the results achieved by the Group. After 02 years since the previous visit, THACO has produced a variety of products with higher quality, higher localization rate, reduced costs and increased competitiveness. These results are thanks to promoting the application of science and technology, automation and digitalization in production, contributing to the socio-economic development of Quang Nam province. The Prime Minister emphasized: The most impressive thing that THACO has been doing is investing in a Research and Development Center (R&D), which not many enterprises have done systematically. THACO has created jobs for people in many localities across the country, made great contributions to the budget, promoted social responsibility, promoted innovation and industrialization.
The Prime Minister assigned THACO key tasks in the coming time, which are: pioneering innovation; accelerating and making breakthroughs in growth; inclusive, comprehensive and sustainable development; actively promoting digital transformation, green transformation, creative economy, ensuring environmental safety and hygiene, bright - green - clean - beautiful; doing better in social security work.
At the same time, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Transport to immediately resolve procedures related to the investment in the Cua Lo route project for 50,000-ton ships entering Chu Lai port; at the same time, requested Quang Nam province to handle land allocation procedures and other procedures for THACO, in the spirit of ensuring substance, strictness, compliance with the law, equality and transparency, and combating negativity and waste.
The Prime Minister also asked THACO to research, transfer technology, and produce high-speed railway cars; at the same time, he expected that this year the Group will achieve higher achievements and efficiency in all aspects, contributing to the realization of the growth target of 10% in Quang Nam and at least 8% in the whole country in 2025. The Prime Minister emphasized: "We are very proud, impressed, admired and confident in THACO".
On this occasion, the Prime Minister and the delegation visited and presented gifts to encourage and motivate THACO employees and member corporations to make more efforts and strive in the new year.
