Currently, Phuc Trach grapefruit is mainly grown in 4 communes: Phuc Trach, Huong Trach, Huong Do, Loc Yen. There are 10 neighboring communes that also grow this grapefruit, but to be worthy of the title of "first famous fruit" with standard flavor, only one village in Phuc Trach commune can grow it. The grapefruit garden of Mr. Long and Ms. Nguyet (Hamlet 4, Huong Trach, Huong Khe, Ha Tinh) has an area of 2 hectares. Every year, his family earns about 300-400 million VND/crop, but this year it is estimated that they only earn about 100 million VND/crop.

According to Ms. Nguyet, this year's grapefruit yield is low due to the impact of the weather. The grapefruit bloomed right during the storm season, so a lot of it fell off. Photo: People transporting grapefruit for sale

Although the yield of grapefruit this year is not as good as previous years, the price at the gardens is still stable. The price ranges from 20,000-25,000 VND/fruit. Each grapefruit weighs about 0.8 - 1.2 kg.

The quality of grapefruit this year is considered better by gardeners than in previous years and is being purchased by traders to send to the North. Currently, the rainy season is approaching, so grapefruit growers here have to take advantage of early harvesting.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Huong Khe district, since the end of August, people in the district have started harvesting Phuc Trach grapefruit. Thanks to special tree care procedures, this year's grapefruit has good quality. This year, the total grapefruit output of the district is estimated to reach nearly 23,000 tons, earning about 550 - 600 billion VND.
