Sacred Ceremony of 60th Anniversary of Ham Rong Victory

The 60th Anniversary of Ham Rong Victory aims to recreate the historical value of our Party's ingenious military leadership, the heroic combat coordination of the army and people of Ham Rong, typically the coordination between the army, air defense, air force, navy, main force, local army, militia and self-defense force and people of Ham Rong - Nam Ngan.

Thanh Hoa fought tenaciously and heroically sacrificed themselves against the brutal air raids of American planes, determined to protect Ham Rong bridge - the national traffic artery, to ensure support for the southern battlefield with the slogan "All for the beloved South", "Determined to defeat the American invaders".

The glorious victory of the army and people of Ham Rong - Nam Ngan, Thanh Hoa has delighted the army and people of the whole country and international friends, is an immortal heroic epic, a shining symbol of patriotism and heroic revolutionary will of the Ho Chi Minh era.

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Doan Anh delivered a speech at the Commemoration Ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Doan Anh affirmed that Ham Rong Victory has become an immortal monument, a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people against all invaders. This was also the first major defeat of the US Air Force in the skies of the North, an affirmation of the invincible strength of the Vietnamese people's war.

We cannot forget the young men and women in their eighteens and twenties, always holding their guns firmly, bravely facing the enemy. That was the team leader Nguyen Thi Hang, who, despite being wounded, did not leave her command post. That was Ms. Ngo Thi Tuyen, who nimbly rushed through the thick smoke of bombs, carrying two boxes of ammunition twice her body weight at the same time so that the soldiers would have ammunition to fight.

They were the four brothers of Mr. Ngo Tho Lan who volunteered to go down to the ship to support and fight with the gunners. They were the workers of the Lo Cao power plant and Ben Coc sawmill who participated in pulling the cannons and loading ammunition, and the workers of the 19/5 bridge team who worked day and night to repair the damaged bridge due to enemy bombardment. They were the elderly, the people of Nam Ngan, Yen Vuc, Dong Son and the monks of Mat Da Dam Xuan pagoda who quietly supplied food to the troops and wholeheartedly cared for the wounded...

In the coming time, the Party Committee, government and people of Thanh Hoa pledge to unite, join hands and build Thanh Hoa into a rich, beautiful, civilized and modern province, a comprehensively developed and exemplary province of the whole country, worthy of the contributions of our ancestors who fought and sacrificed for our peaceful life", the Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee emphasized.

Also at the Commemoration Ceremony, representing the Veterans who directly fought and served in the battle to protect Ham Rong Bridge, Mr. Le Xuan Giang, former Political Commissar of Company 4, Regiment 228, spoke to recall the unforgettable heroic days fighting with the army and people of Thanh Hoa province to protect Ham Rong Bridge.

Hoang Le Quynh Loan, member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Student Association, Vice President of the Student Association of Hong Duc University, representing the young generation of Thanh Hoa province, expressed her gratitude to the generations of ancestors who heroically fought and sacrificed to liberate the nation and unify the country so that today's young generation can live in peace, freedom and independence, and the homeland will develop more and more prosperously. Today's young generation vows to continue to promote the tradition of previous generations to build the homeland and country to become more and more powerful and modern.

Hoang Le Quynh Loan, representing the young generation of Thanh Hoa province, expressed her gratitude to previous generations.

At the celebration, there was an art program with the theme: "Ham Rong - Forever resounding heroic epic" consisting of 3 parts: Part I - Ham Rong is ready to fight; Part II - Ham Rong wins; Part III - Ham Rong forever resounds heroic epic.

The art program is performed in the form of dramatization with scenes of real historical characters combined with songs that have gone through the years and some songs written about the Fatherland, the Party, Uncle Ho, Ham Rong, Thanh Hoa in combat and in the process of construction, innovation, and prosperity.

The 60th anniversary of Ham Rong victory (April 3-4, 1965 - April 3-4, 2025) has profound historical and revolutionary significance, educating the younger generations in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
