Pepper prices today, February 15, 2025, in the domestic market continued to decrease in key localities, trading from 159,000 - 160,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 159,500 VND/kg.
Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (158,500 VND/kg); Dak Lak (160,000 VND/kg); Dak Nong (160,000 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (159,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (159,000 VND/kg).
Thus, pepper prices today continued to decrease in other key growing areas, down 2,000 VND/kg. The highest pepper price reached 160,000 VND/kg.
These days, throughout the pepper growing areas of Dak Nong province, farmers are entering the harvest season.
This year, some pepper growing areas in Dak Nong were affected by severe weather, causing productivity to decrease compared to 2024. However, the high pepper price of 160,000 - 180,000 VND/kg made farmers very excited, giving them more motivation to harvest, invest, and take care of their gardens.
Mr. Le Anh Son, Director of Binh Minh Production - Trade - Service Cooperative, Ea Po Commune, Cu Jut District, said that in the past, the price of Dak Nong pepper that traders bought was often the lowest in other provinces. But in recent years, traders have been buying pepper from Dak Nong at a higher price than other provinces.
The reason why pepper prices in Dak Nong are high is mainly because people pay attention to applying science and techniques to properly care for pepper. Farmers pay attention to the stages of harvesting, drying, and preserving agricultural products... thereby improving product quality and selling at higher prices.
In addition, in the past, most farmers consigned all their pepper products to agents and companies after harvesting, so they were forced to lower prices. In recent years, farmers have dried and stored their pepper products at home after harvesting, avoiding the situation of being forced to lower prices, thereby increasing the selling price when the time is right.
Dak Nong currently has 34,000 hectares of pepper, with an average yield of about 2.4 tons/ha and a total output of about 70,000 tons. Dak Nong has established pepper production areas that meet standards and have output linkages.
In the world market, at the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 7,258 USD/ton, up 0.1%; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 6,800 USD/ton, up 1.47%; the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 9,000 USD/ton.
Muntok white pepper price is 10,019 USD/ton, up 0.09%; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is at 11,600 USD/ton.
Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 6,500 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 6,650 USD/ton; white pepper price at 9,550 USD/ton.
