Recently, the Commander of the Northern Command (NORTHCOM) said that the DPRK has the ability to attack all of North America with nuclear weapons, and at the same time, said that North Korea's intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) force is threatening the security of the US territory and its missile defense system.

In a response, the North Korean statement stressed: "The US is posing a grave threat to the security environment of the Korean Peninsula and the rest of the world by pursuing reckless armament and thoroughly modernizing its nuclear force. Therefore, the US's talk of 'threat' from someone is a bandit's sophistry, like the guilty party suing first, seriously confusing right and wrong...

The strategic armed forces of the DPRK are a defense force for ensuring the security of the country and the strategic balance of the region. The US's description of this as a 'threat' only proves its hostility toward the DPRK."

Pyongyang's statement expressed serious concern over the US military's confrontational behavior aimed at creating public opinion about the non-existent "threat" from the DPRK and justifying its adventurous military ambitions to gain power supremacy in the region.

The statement pointed out that the current US administration is supporting the establishment of an offensive missile defense system to preemptively attack other countries and weaponize outer space under the pretext of territorial defense. At this time, the Commander of the US Northern Command talked about the "threat from the DPRK". This clearly shows their true intentions.

The DPRK side pointed out that recently, a US nuclear submarine openly entered the Korean Peninsula, US Space Force officials conspired with the Japanese and South Korean militaries to share information on detecting DPRK ballistic missiles and conduct joint space exercises. The US and South Korean militaries are planning to conduct a large-scale Freedom Shield exercise in March. All these events have become legitimate reasons for the DPRK to strengthen its respective defense capabilities to cope with the escalating military threat from rival countries.

Through this statement, Pyongyang affirmed: "If the US truly cares about its territorial security, the only way to eliminate this concern is to completely abandon its military threat and hostile policy toward independent and sovereign countries."

It is the legitimate right of a sovereign state to self-defense to continuously develop self-defense capabilities capable of effectively containing all current and future security threats, ensuring national security and regional strategic balance.

The statement concluded that the armed forces of the DPRK will continue to deter and fully control all challenges and threats from rival countries with their powerful self-defense capabilities and faithfully carry out their mission of firmly safeguarding peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the region.
