Artists Le Duy and Hong Thuy prepare for a performance at Cai Rang floating market
On the morning of May 25, we were present at the Cai Rang floating market wharf - Can Tho, to follow artists Le Duy and Hong Thuy - two bright stars of Tay Do Theater to organize and serve Don Ca Tai Tu (ĐCTT) on Cai Rang floating market.

Every Saturday morning, there is a boat floating on the river, carrying many lyrical melodies and Cai Rang floating market is the "unique stage" of the artists.
Artists Le Duy and Hong Thuy both won the Tran Huu Trang Gold Medal along with many other awards from the Cai Luong young talent contests; the National Professional Cai Luong Stage Festival. Hong Thuy was awarded many certificates of merit by the People's Committee of Can Tho City and is one of the members of the Youth Union who achieved the title of advanced youth following Uncle Ho's teachings. She is currently a Party member and has always been exemplary in all artistic activities of the Tay Do Theater.

Both have sweet voices that captivate people's hearts. Artist Hong Thuy said: "This is a model that contributes to creating more unique features for the market, loved by traders and tourists, and at the same time, contributes to the project of preserving and developing Cai Rang floating market, as well as preserving and promoting the type of ĐCTT - a characteristic of the South - an intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO.
Every Saturday, we are excited to sing on the river, meet and interact with tourists, bringing emotional experiences when coming to the Mekong Delta for domestic tourists as well as foreign tourists visiting Can Tho."

Not only Le Duy, Hong Thuy, artists serving on the Floating Market such as: Phuong Anh, Linh Sang, Kim Ngan, musicians Chi Thanh (pliers), Y Nguyen, Van Em (guitar) all felt very excited and new. Here, visitors can sing and interact with artists and artisans, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for visitors and traders on the floating market.

This model was directed by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, assigned to Tay Do Theater and the Culture, Sports and Broadcasting Center of Cai Rang District to carry out. The audience cheered enthusiastically when Phuong Anh and Le Duy sang a duet of the traditional song "Love of a mat seller" by composer Vien Chau. Or Kim Ngan sang the traditional song "I go to find you" sweetly and passionately.
Besides the heart-touching vọng cổ verses, the artists also sang: "Ngu doi ha", "Phung hoang", "Nam Xuan", "Giang Nam"... attracting many tourist boats to stop and listen to the entire song.

Artist Le Duy shared that through this, this model not only brings practical results in preserving the country's intangible cultural heritage but also is an opportunity to promote the image of Cai Rang Floating Market and the identity of the Southern floating market closer to the public and international tourists.
Artists Le Duy and Hong Thuy have just graduated from the Faculty of Stage Directing at the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City. Artist Le Duy directed the cai luong play "Farewell to the Emperor's Destiny" by author Hung Tan (husband of People's Artist Thanh Vy) and artist Hong Thuy directed the cai luong play "Khuc Nguyet Cam" (author Phan Hung, based on the short story by writer Nguyen Lap Em, adapted by playwright Dang Minh).
Both were in the same class with a generation of young stage directors in the Western provinces including: Meritorious Artist My Hanh (Bac Lieu), Hoang Thai Hung, Kim Quy (Ca Mau), Chau Thoai My (Soc Trang), Tran Hoang Huynh Huy (Ben Tre)... Both were students of People's Artist Giang Manh Ha - currently Vice President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association.
