These are artistic performances imbued with the cultural identity of ethnic groups in Dak Mil district brought to the program of performing and recreating intangible cultural forms of ethnic minorities in Dak Mil district in 2024.

The program was organized by the People's Committee of Dak Mil district, with the participation of more than 100 artisans and non-professional actors from the communes of Thuan An, Duc Minh, Long Son, Dak Sak, Dak R'la, Dak N'Drot, Dak Gan, Dak Mil town and Dak Mil district's Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities.

Gong artists in Thuan An commune, Dak Mil district are always dedicated to preserving this unique intangible cultural heritage of the M'nong people.

The performances recreate the unique cultural features of ethnic minorities in the district such as: gong playing and dancing of the M'nong people; Tinh lute, Then singing of the Tay people; Khmer dance; lion dance of the Tay and Nung people; Thai xoe dance... These dances, gong sounds, and songs are a way to educate the younger generation to return to their roots.

Student H'Him, M'nong ethnic group, grade 12, Dak Mil District Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary and High School shared: "I really like the dance performances of the ethnic minorities. I am very impressed by the unique beauty of each ethnic group through each performance. Especially the performances of the uncles, aunts, brothers and sisters in Sa Pa hamlet, Thuan An commune help me understand more about my ethnic culture."

Leveraging resources from Project 6

The program of performing and recreating intangible cultural forms of ethnic minorities in Dak Mil district in 2024 is one of the contents of Dak Mil District People's Committee implementing Program 1719.

The program contributes to raising awareness and understanding of the cultural identity of ethnic groups; the meaning and importance of cultural heritage in the spiritual life of the people.

The program creates opportunities for artisans, cultural subjects, and heritage practitioners to demonstrate their talents, exchange and share experiences, effectively contributing to the preservation and promotion of the value of national intangible cultural heritage.

Dak Mil district has more than 22,000 ethnic minorities, with 19 ethnic groups living together, creating a unique, diverse and colorful cultural picture. In recent times, the locality has combined resources to preserve, maintain and promote the traditional culture of ethnic minorities.

Dak Mil trained more than 160 people in charge of the cultural field, artisans, village elders, village heads, hamlets, and prestigious people in ethnic minority areas in the district on the work of preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development.

From 2022 to 2024, the total capital allocated to implement Project 6 of Program 1719 in Dak Mil district is more than 3 billion VND. To date, the district has disbursed nearly 1.9 billion VND.

Up to now, Dak Mil has restored the Long Tong Festival in Long Son commune; provided training, professional development, and teaching of intangible culture; and supported equipment for cultural and sports institutions in Bon Jun Juh, Duc Minh commune.

The locality supports equipment for cultural and sports institutions in Dak Krai hamlet, Dak Gan commune; builds and repairs cultural houses in Sa Pa and Bu Dak hamlets, Thuan An commune; supports equipment for two traditional art troupes in Jun Juh hamlet, Duc Minh commune and Tay Son, Dong Son hamlets, Long Son commune. Vice Chairman of Dak Mil District People's Committee Phan Ba ​​Tinh emphasized that in order to preserve and promote the cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities, Dak Mil District continues to strengthen propaganda. This is an important factor for each person, family, and community to clearly understand the value of their ethnic cultural heritage. From there, raise awareness of preserving, promoting, and educating young generations about the meaning of festivals, customs, practices, folk arts, and languages ​​of ethnic groups in the district.

The district is interested in restoring and promoting folk art forms, traditional festivals, crafts, and languages ​​of ethnic minorities. All levels and sectors develop programs to support artisans and traditional occupations, creating conditions for younger generations to participate in learning and preserving crafts and performing arts.

Authorities at all levels and functional sectors focus on creating cultural spaces, organizing events and festivals to introduce and promote the unique cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development in the district.

From those working in cultural affairs, authorities at all levels to every citizen, everyone has the responsibility to protect and promote the cultural values ​​of the ethnic groups.
