Participating in the program Vietnamese Family Home, MC Thanh Thao, actor Hai Nam and actor Jun Vu burst into tears when witnessing the situation of orphaned children. The three artists tried their best, bringing home a total prize of 95 million VND for the orphaned children.
Episode 112 of the program Vietnamese Family Home, hosted by MC Thanh Thao Hugo. Two guests, actor Hai Nam and actress Jun Vu, joined forces to help three disadvantaged children, Lai Tra My (2014), Luong Bao Trong (2014) and Sam Thi Phuong (2013), bring home valuable prizes to help them make ends meet.
At the beginning of the program, actress Jun Vu said that she was very happy and pleased to receive the invitation from Vietnamese Family Home. The actress loves the program because of the humane values that the program brings as well as through Hai Nam's story. Appearing with Jun Vu, actor Hai Nam was both happy and excited because this was the second time he participated in the Vietnamese Family Home program . To him, this is a meaningful program, with many humane values, helping many orphans.
Hai Nam shared: “I feel very proud to be one of the artists participating in the program in the first recordings, I appeared in episode 2 of the program. And I am very happy that Vietnamese Family Home is increasingly being followed, responded to and supported by more and more people. The program has also spread more love to everyone as well as helped many difficult situations in life” . The two guests affirmed that they will try their best to complete the challenges to bring valuable rewards to difficult situations.
The first case is Lai Tra My (2014), a student at Luong Khanh Thien Primary School, Phu Ly City, Ha Nam Province. Currently, Tra My is living with her grandmother, father, older sister and younger brother. Tra My's family already has many difficulties when her grandmother is over 70 years old and has liver cancer, and her father also has late-stage lung cancer. Her mother is the main breadwinner of the family. Suddenly, an unexpected incident occurred when Tra My's mother had a stroke and passed away in 2023. The remaining family of 5 people almost fell into a deadlock.
Because of illness, both father and grandmother cannot work, and do not have money for treatment, so they have to take herbal medicine to keep up. Seeing the family's difficulties, Tra My's older sister, Lai Ha My (2007), had to drop out of school in 10th grade to work to earn money to support the family. Ha My used to work as a sales assistant at a bakery, now works at a garment company, earning about 4 million VND/month. Ha My alone became the main pillar, supporting the whole family.
The youngest brother, Lai Gia Phu, is only in second grade. After school hours, they help clean the house and take care of their father and grandmother so that their sister can go to work with peace of mind. Tra My's family lives in an old and dilapidated house, located in a small alley. Every day, Tra My and her sister go to school hand in hand. Because their family is poor, they have not had new clothes to wear like their peers for a long time. However, what she wants most now is to have money to pay for her grandmother and father's medical treatment. She is afraid that one day she will lose two more loved ones. Tra My also hopes that her sister can go back to school. She loves her sister very much and does not want to see her struggle to make a living like that.
Witnessing the situation of the characters, MC Thanh Thao Hugo worries about the future of Tra My's sisters, seeing that they are so young and have to face so much pain. "Tra My is only 10 years old but has to worry about how many more days she will be able to go to school. Seeing the two sisters leaning on each other makes me feel so sorry. The children are still young but have to live in worry every day because they don't know if their father and grandmother are okay at home when they go to school or work, if they will suddenly pass away like their mother before. As for the older sister Ha My, she is only 17 years old, with a weak appearance but has to shoulder the family, anyone who looks at her will feel sorry," the female MC shared.
Actor Hai Nam tried to hold back his emotions but tears still welled up in his eyes. He choked up for a moment, unable to speak, then burst into tears because he felt sorry for the three children who had lost their mother early. The actor said: "Ha My is at the age of going to school and had to quit school to go to work, but when asked, her biggest worry was the fear of losing her father, not the fear of having to work hard ." He only had time to share one sentence before bursting into tears again, unable to continue speaking. Actress Jun Vu also choked up for a long time, she hugged the children and wiped away tears for Tra My and her sisters, hoping that they would soon overcome the current difficulties.
The next case is Luong Bao Trong (2014), a Nung ethnic, currently a student at Ba Son Primary School, Cao Loc District, Lang Son Province. Bao Trong's father passed away in 2022 due to stomach cancer. Since then, he and his siblings have been living with their mother and grandmother. The grandmother is over 60 years old, suffering from joint pain, so she cannot work, she mainly stays at home to take care of the grandchildren.
Bao Trong's mother, Vi Thi Duong (1989), works as a cook for a kindergarten near her home, earning 5 million VND/month. Duong suffers from cerebral anemia, so for many years she has often had numbness in her hands and feet, and many nights she cannot sleep. Every month, Duong has to spend 900,000 VND on medicine.
Bao Trong's older brother is Luong Bao Nam (2009), currently in 10th grade. Bao Nam is a very good student and has won many major awards such as: Second Prize in the 2023 Science and Technology Innovation Competition, Encouragement Prize in the 2023 Innovation Competition for Youth, Adolescents and Children, etc. His older sister is Luong Bao Trang (2012), currently in 7th grade at Cao Loc District Boarding Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities. Bao Trang has also been an excellent student for many years. All three siblings are well-behaved, good students and are the pride of the family. Therefore, Ms. Duong does not want her children to drop out of school, despite the hardships, she still tries to carry on.
MC Thanh Thao expressed her sympathy because she is also a mother, also has a 10-year-old son, so she understands Ms. Duong's love for her children. The female MC burst into tears because she sympathized with the hardships and difficulties that Ms. Duong is having to bear alone. However, the most positive thing in the family is that despite growing up in hardship, all three Bao Trong brothers are very good students, achieving many achievements. For Thanh Thao, the certificates of merit in the small house where Trong and his mother live are the hope for them to strive to improve every day. She also hopes that Ms. Duong will take care of her health to always be a spiritual support for her children.
“In the past, Ms. Thao’s family also had to cover the mosquito net with a plastic sheet to sleep. Because every time it rained, Ms. Thao’s family had to use basins and buckets to catch the water. That means that our childhoods can be filled with many difficulties. But you yourself must always nurture your will, nurture your determination and accept the loving help of those around you to try to study. Studying is the only way to help you change your life, so never drop out of school,” MC Thanh Thao told Bao Trong.
Actor Hai Nam was moved when he heard that Bao Trong was willing to drop out of school to let his siblings continue going to school because he thought that they were all grown up and could have stable jobs after a few more years of studying to help their mother have less trouble. However, the actor gave Bao Trong many words of encouragement to try to study hard to change his life. Actress Jun Vu also admired the understanding of all three Bao Trong brothers. The image of the siblings always thinking about their mother, knowing how to love and protect each other made the actress extremely emotional.
The remaining situation is Sam Thi Phuong (2013), a student at Cam Duong Secondary School, Lao Cai City, Lao Cai Province. Phuong's mother has a leg disability and is mentally unstable, so from a young age Phuong did not know who her father was. When she was 8 months old, her mother left, only occasionally returning home, then a few days later she left again. Therefore, from a young age, Phuong lacked the love of both her father and mother. She grew up in the love and care of her grandmother. And the orphan girl's words: "I'm worried that one day when I wake up in the morning, my grandmother will be gone and I will be gone" made many people feel sorry.
My grandmother, Do Thi Ngo (1954), is 70 years old this year and has no stable job. The family has no specific income so they only rely on the money earned from 2 rice crops and a few grown crops. In addition, Sam Thi Phuong often walks with her grandmother up the hill to pick wild vegetables to sell to earn some money to buy rice to eat. Sometimes, she also works as a hired stubble burner, but when she has no work, she just stays at home.
MC Thanh Thao emotionally shared: “Everyone often tells each other that grandmothers are the second mothers of many grandchildren, this is really true for Phuong. I give all my love, affection and worries to my grandmother. I know information about my mother, but it is just fleeting like I myself do not care much if I live without my mother now, I only need my grandmother” . The female MC was heartbroken when looking at the image of both grandmother and grandchild with tiny stature, one is old, the other is too young, relying on each other. She cried out to heaven when she knew that little Sam Thi Phuong had to study with a flashlight, despite the difficulties, she always had the will to rise up, making everyone admire her.
Actress Jun Vu cried, “I see Phuong as a very strong girl. Her strength is shown in every look in her eyes. I feel like this girl is ready to shoulder everything for her family and only needs one spiritual support, which is her grandmother by her side. Looking at Phuong reminds me of myself in the past, because I also had a broken family when I was 10 years old. And I also live with my grandmother so we are very close. I see Phuong as really determined, very talented, Phuong understands everything when she knows what she needs, what she wants and always tries to rise up. I feel like Phuong has never surrendered to fate . ”
Sympathizing with the difficulties that the children had to go through, the 3 artists and 3 families were determined to overcome the challenges, aiming to win the highest prize money of the program to light up the children's dreams.
In the 3-minute side competition, actor Hai Nam and actress Jun Vu had to overcome the challenge of kicking the ball continuously. Accordingly, the two guests continuously used their feet to kick the ball from the starting line, overcome obstacles in a zigzag path, and then kicked the ball so that it rolled over 15 Hoa Sen plastic pipes at the finish line.
In the main competition, actors Hai Nam and Jun Vu took turns working with children to perform the bridge throwing challenge. Accordingly, players started by crossing the monkey bridge, took the bridge, jumped over obstacles, dipped the bridge in paint and threw it into the circles drawn on the duck model at the finish line. When 15 circles were covered in paint, the task was completed. The continuous running gradually exhausted the players. Hai Nam and Jun Vu even took off their shoes to move faster, hoping to complete the challenge in the shortest time.
After the rounds, Lai Tra My's family received a prize of 15 million VND. Luong Bao Trong's family came in second, receiving 20 million VND. Sam Thi Phuong's family continued to enter the special round, winning 2 logo plaques with a prize of 60 million VND. Holding the valuable plaque, Sam Thi Phuong could not hide her happiness because she had more money for her studies and living expenses. Her happiness was even greater when she thought about her grandmother, who had somewhat lessened the hardships in her life later on.
In addition, actor Jun Vu gave each family 5 million VND. Actor Hai Nam gave Tra My 5 million VND, and he also gave each family a gift. MC Thanh Thao gave Bao Trong a pair of soccer shoes, Tra My two new school bags, and Sam Thi Phuong a new bookcase with 50 books for her to pursue knowledge. The total amount of money that the donors and local people monitored and gave to the families was more than 85 million VND.
In addition, the sponsor Hoa Sen Group supported the construction of a new bathroom, a new roof and a new power line for Sam Thi Phuong's family so that she would no longer have to study with a flashlight.
