In August, foreign investors continued to net sell more than 3,200 billion VND on the stock exchange.

Specifically, the total transaction value of foreign investors in August 2024 reached over VND 78,746 billion, accounting for over 10.86% of the total transaction value of the entire market. Foreign investors made net sales during the month with a value of over VND 3,278 billion.

Regarding market liquidity for stocks in the first 8 months of 2020, the average trading volume reached more than 649 million shares/day with an average trading value of more than VND 16,476 billion/day; correspondingly an increase of 2.57% in volume and a decrease of 2.21% in value compared to July 2024.

Covered warrants (CW): Average trading volume reached over 49.34 million CW/day with an average trading value of VND 33.51 billion/day; correspondingly an increase of 19.23% in volume and a decrease of 10.08% in value compared to July 2024.

ETF fund certificates: The average trading volume of ETF fund certificates reached 4.28 million ETFs with an average trading value of more than VND 94.67 billion, a decrease of 17.91% in volume and 21.12% in trading value compared to July 2024.

In August, except for the raw materials index (VNMAT) and the industrial index (VNIND), which decreased by 3.65% and 1.57% respectively compared to the previous month. The remaining industry indexes all recorded growth, notably the consumer index (VNCOND) which increased by 6.32%, the real estate index (VNREAL) which increased by 5.21%, and the information technology index (VNIT) which increased by 4.49%.
