Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huy Dung happily informed that since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Thai Nguyen province and KTR in November 2024 in Korea, the provincial leaders welcomed Mr. Kim Huyn Cheol to visit Thai Nguyen. He emphasized that the province is resolutely implementing sustainable development solutions, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to achieving the goal of carbon neutrality and moving towards Net Zero by 2050.
Based on the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and Korea, with strengths in the field of carbon credits, along with the successes of KRT globally, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his pleasure that Thai Nguyen and KTR have established an important cooperative relationship in the field of environment, especially in carbon credits. He affirmed that the two sides have made significant progress with survey activities, technical exchanges and cooperation in feasibility studies on emission reduction projects, creating and determining carbon credits.

Based on the implementation plan of the contents agreed in the MOU, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested KTR to continue supporting the greenhouse gas inventory in Thai Nguyen province. This is an important first step in measuring and monitoring greenhouse gas emissions, serving as a basis for future emission reduction plans. He also requested KTR to conduct surveys, assess the potential and implement emission reduction projects, create and determine carbon credits in the province.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee proposed that KTR build a data center to support carbon neutrality in the province. This is a specialized center that will facilitate the storage, management and provision of information related to carbon credits. This center will be a platform for Thai Nguyen to access advanced carbon management tools and promote emission reduction activities.

* Earlier that morning, the Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with KTR to organize a training conference on greenhouse gas inventory for delegates from departments, branches, localities and the business community.
At the Conference, delegates were introduced to an overview of legal regulations related to greenhouse gas inventory; KTR experts provided guidance on the implementation of greenhouse gas inventory reports.
The training and coaching content helps businesses and management agencies proactively develop a roadmap for inventorying and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in their units and businesses. This is not only a responsibility but also an opportunity to improve production efficiency, build reputation and increase the competitive advantage of businesses in the context of green economic development.
