Ms. Tran Thi Hai Yen - principal of Tran Phu High School (Hanoi) - said that according to the plan, 12th grade students have finished their review period to prepare for the high school graduation exam, but there are still some students who have registered to study according to their needs.

Practice, don't be subjective

“These are students who aim to get high scores in the exam to use the results for university admission. They want to practice more advanced skills. In addition, there are also many students who have stopped reviewing in class but still come to school to study on their own. The school creates conditions for them to go to classes with fans to review,” said Ms. Yen.

Duc Anh, a student at Tran Phu High School (Hanoi), said he wants to enter Hanoi Medical University and is aiming to achieve a high graduation exam score to be used for admission to the school. Duc Anh shared that although he took the B exam, he did not focus on reviewing in the last days but focused on studying math and literature.

According to this candidate, math is a subject that uses admission scores, but he is only confident in very basic forms. Meanwhile, he needs a high score for admission, so he should focus on practicing more difficult forms, similar to the reference exam questions of the Ministry of Education and Training. As for literature, Duc Anh finds it "vague" so he needs to review to ensure he gets an average score or higher.

A female student who sat in the same “self-study” class with Duc Anh said that she only now had time to review the subjects of the social science combination exam. Previously, she had to review for the IELTS exam and two competency assessments organized by Hanoi National University, so she was distracted. Math, literature, and English were relatively okay, but she had not reviewed any of the subjects of the combination exam.

“Although this test score is not used for admission, and I myself have met the requirements for early admission to two schools, I still dare not be subjective, afraid that I will get a failing score on the combined test. I also try my best to get good test results, who knows, maybe I will have more good options when applying for university,” said the female student.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhiep - Principal of Chu Van An High School (Hanoi) - said that at the end of the school year, many students stopped going to review classes and instead studied and reviewed at home. Due to the task of the industry, the school did not organize review sessions at school.

Chu Van An Secondary School has created favorable conditions in terms of facilities for the parent representatives of some classes to coordinate in organizing review sessions for students on a voluntary basis. Therefore, review classes are formed with students from many classes, meeting the students' desire to review by subject.

Join hands to support students in difficult areas

In many northern mountainous provinces, to support students in disadvantaged areas, the Department of Education and Training mobilizes teachers from favorable areas to go to disadvantaged areas to tutor students in the last month before the exam.

Ms. To Thi Thao - Deputy Director of the Yen Bai Department of Education and Training - said: Immediately after the end of the 2023-2024 school year, the Department of Education and Training requested high schools in favorable areas to send teachers of math, literature, and foreign languages to highland schools to tutor disadvantaged students. This support not only directly helps students make up for their missing knowledge, but also helps local teachers update teaching methods and effectively review for students.

More than 700 free teaching hours in June is a number that shows the efforts of teachers in Yen Bai. Ms. Thao also said that Yen Bai also received special support from the education sector of Hanoi, Nam Dinh, and Hai Phong.

Yen Bai students were provided with a link by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to access a review app with lesson content compiled by Hanoi teachers. They also practiced English online with teachers in Hai Phong and Nam Dinh.

In Lao Cai, according to Ms. Giang Thi Dung - Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, supporting students in disadvantaged areas is an important task. This includes supporting review sessions and helping them get to exam locations safely and in good health.

In June, Lao Cai also sent many teachers from favorable areas to tutor students in disadvantaged areas. The teachers mainly supported students in reviewing basic knowledge, providing review materials and practicing test-taking skills to help them achieve basic scores.

In Tuong Duong, Con Cuong (Nghe An), 12th grade students are also taught for free by teachers from more convenient districts during these days in the spirit called by the Department of Education and Training to "rooms help rooms, schools help schools".

According to the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, hundreds of free lessons like this were conducted for students in disadvantaged areas this June. Among the students in disadvantaged areas who are tutored by teachers in more favorable areas, some only aim to graduate, while others hope to enter university.

Review for graduation exam via app and TV

In Hanoi, to support 12th grade students in their review, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training organized a series of review lessons on television and on a review app so that 100% of students could access and follow. This review app was also shared with a number of other localities for review.

Take care of candidates from the small things

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong said that through the ministry's inspections in a number of localities, one of the things that localities and schools have done very well is supporting candidates.

Not only supporting students in reviewing and consolidating knowledge to achieve the desired results in the exam, but the care also includes small things such as collecting phone numbers of many people in the candidate's family so that in case the candidate is late, there will be a plan to pick them up or knowing each candidate who lives far away to support transportation to the exam location.

Especially for candidates with difficult circumstances and disadvantaged candidates, localities have plans to support them both materially and spiritually so that they can confidently participate in the exam.
