Thanking Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for taking the time to meet him, Mr. Nagao Yutaka said that Japan is currently facing an aging population, leading to a decrease in labor in the transportation sector, so the group is lacking drivers; currently 50% of Japanese drivers are over 50 years old...
The logistics industry is like the lifeblood of the economy, so to ensure sustainable development, the group must ensure a sustainable labor source and Yamato is promoting cooperation with FPT in this field; believing that Vietnam has an abundant labor source and Yamato Group wishes to invest in building a professional driver training center in Vietnam to supply the Japanese market.
Currently, the group needs to apply information technology in the transportation industry - a very important field, so the group hopes to receive support from the Vietnamese Government in this field.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that logistics is an important field. If done well, it will actively contribute to increasing competitiveness, reducing product costs, diversifying markets, and diversifying supply chains.
In that spirit, the Prime Minister supported the group's idea; he said that Yamato could combine training human resources for Vietnam, not only in the logistics industry; Japan is Vietnam's largest labor partner - currently there are about 500,000 Vietnamese people working, living and studying in Japan.
Not only the logistics sector but also the group needs to expand investment in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and management because Vietnam currently needs to switch to a smart management model and digital transformation.
The Prime Minister also hopes that the group will expand into other fields and closely coordinate with FPT, a large Vietnamese technology group with experience working with Japan; thereby contributing to promoting exchanges between businesses of the two sides.
The Chairman of Yamato Holdings stated that Vietnam has great potential in developing the transportation and logistics sectors, which require the application of digital transformation, digital technology, and extensive data management.
The group will successfully apply data management to its business in Vietnam. He said that Vietnam is strongly promoting the semiconductor industry, while Japan is also in need of expanding the semiconductor industry, leading to a specialized transportation industry for this industry; the group also operates in air transport services; the group will coordinate with Vietnamese enterprises to improve the quality of transportation and logistics services.
He highly appreciated the effective support of the Vietnamese Government, ministries and sectors in the group's business investment in Vietnam; said that in Japan, the group is using about 3,000 electric trucks in business, therefore, hopes to share with Vietnam its experience in this field to contribute to promoting green development.
Thanking Yamato Group for its goodwill in investing, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh further stated that Vietnam is one of the countries with the highest e-commerce growth in the world today with a population of over 100 million people.
E-commerce is buying and selling online but goods transportation must still be carried out normally through logistics, which is very suitable for Vietnam's development trend.
In the coming years, Vietnam aims for double-digit growth, so the demand for transportation is huge. Therefore, all sectors, including logistics transportation, must also grow by double digits.
On the basis of the very good political relations between the two countries, the Prime Minister hopes that both sides will promote investment to develop faster, improve the efficiency of production, business, and logistics in Vietnam, and develop greenly, quickly, and sustainably.
The Prime Minister wished Yamato success in doing business in Vietnam; affirmed that Yamato's success is also Vietnam's success.
The Prime Minister also said that Vietnam is investing in the construction of Gia Binh airport and is building a large logistics center at this airport, so Yamato can participate in investing in the development of this logistics center.
