On the occasion of the working visit to Vietnam of the Indonesian Journalists Association Delegation, in order to further strengthen the close relationship between the press of the two countries as well as the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia, the Vietnam Journalists Association is pleased to organize a meeting between the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Indonesian Journalists Association.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association and Mr. Sihono, Director of Pancasila Press, Indonesian Journalists Association, Yogyakarta region, discussed at the meeting.
At the reception, on behalf of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the press community nationwide, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, expressed his pleasure at welcoming the delegation of the Indonesian Journalists Association to visit and work in Vietnam. He said that Vietnam and Indonesia are two countries that play a very important role in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The role of the press of the two countries is also very important in strengthening the relationship between the two countries and peoples.
“We hope and believe that this visit of the delegation will be an opportunity to discuss solutions and methods to further strengthen the cooperative relationship between the press of the two countries. Increasing information about the situation of the two countries will help the public understand more clearly about the two countries, thereby contributing to increasing the interest and mutual understanding between the people of the two countries,” Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi emphasized.
Overview of the meeting between the two Journalists Associations
Briefly providing information about the Association, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi said that the Vietnam Journalists Association is the only political, social and professional organization of Vietnamese journalists with more than 25,000 members. Currently, in terms of foreign relations, the Association has exchange relations with many press organizations and press associations of countries not only in Southeast Asia but also in some countries around the world.
The Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association also emphasized that there is already a cooperative relationship between Vietnamese and Indonesian press agencies, such as the Vietnam News Agency and Antara News Agency, and between the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and the National Radio Indonesia (RRI). He hopes that the relationship between the press agencies of the two sides will continue to develop further.

On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of the Indonesian press delegation during the Vietnamese press delegation's visit to attend the 20th General Assembly of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ) in 2022, which will be held in Indonesia. Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi also congratulated Indonesia on its successful General Election and hoped that the Indonesian press delegation would have good experiences and memories of Vietnam after this visit.
At the meeting, Mr. Sihono, Director of Pancasila Press Association of Indonesian Journalists, Yogyakarta Region, Head of the delegation thanked the warm welcome of the Vietnam Journalists Association. Mr. Sihono said that although he had only experienced 1 day here, he was extremely impressed with the country and people, from food to Vietnamese culture.
In particular, after visiting the Vietnam Press Museum, he shared: “We are also planning to build a press museum as a place to educate and train future generations of Indonesian journalists. We hope that the two sides will have deeper cooperation, have the opportunity to return to Vietnam to study more thoroughly, learn more about the model of the Vietnam Press Museum. The history of Vietnamese press is almost similar to that of Indonesian press, historical figures, revolutionaries in Indonesia are the same as in Vietnam, most of them were once journalists” .
At the meeting, the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Indonesian Journalists Association also had very open exchanges and discussions on many issues of concern, including press freedom, challenges and opportunities for journalism in the digital media environment, the use of social networks, the application of artificial intelligence in journalism and media activities, etc. From there, they presented experiences and effective solutions in the new context, enhanced mutual understanding, and opened up opportunities for cooperation in the future.
The delegates all shared the view that it is necessary to further strengthen the friendly relationship and cooperation between the press of the two countries in the coming time.

The two sides continue to fulfill their responsibilities in the best way to promote consensus in press activities to help people of the two countries have a correct understanding of political, economic, social, cultural, educational and people-to-people exchange issues.
Within the framework of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ), journalists from both sides cooperate in all fields, especially in professional aspects, to strengthen the strength of the association to build CAJ into a cohesive organization, helping each other to develop, contributing to strengthening solidarity, friendship and cooperation between journalists in particular and people in the ASEAN region in general.
