According to India Today, as of September 14, the remaining remnants of storm Yagi are expected to strengthen into a tropical depression within the next 48 hours.
Meteorologists expect the tropical depression to move into eastern India and severely impact areas like Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha. Meanwhile, the Delhi region is forecast to experience drier weather with the possibility of heavy rains.
The remnants of Typhoon Yagi gradually strengthened into a tropical depression.
Experts believe that the cause of this "resurgence" of storms is due to the remnants of Cyclone Yagi entering the Bay of Bengal. The warm waters of the Bay of Bengal are an ideal environment for storms to develop, providing the energy needed for storms or remnants to gain strength.
Typhoon Yagi followed a well-documented path, starting as a low pressure area in the western Pacific Ocean, gradually strengthening and gaining structure before being classified as a tropical storm. As it crossed the Philippine Sea, it accelerated and headed toward the Bay of Bengal, where it gained strength from warm sea surface temperatures.
Experts also noted that the remnants of Cyclone Yagi exhibit strong structure and significant convection, which makes it susceptible to re-intensification. In preparation for heavy rainfall and potential risks, a 72-hour warning has been issued for West Bengal, Jharkhand, North Odisha and parts of Bihar.
