"In ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Lam Dong, agricultural production has been carried out using modern technology such as greenhouses, net houses, and crop restructuring. This can be clearly seen in Lac Duong, Don Duong, and Duc Trong districts.
Previously, in the communes of the above districts, ethnic minorities mainly grew rice and corn, but now they have changed their crop structure to flowers and high-tech vegetables, bringing high economic value... Today, we are proud that the ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Lam Dong no longer have the image of "the buffalo going first, the plow going after" anymore", Mr. Ya Guong commented.
According to the People's Committee of Don Duong district, from the project programs, the District Agricultural Center has built effective economic models, which are gradually being replicated in ethnic minority areas such as: Model of growing vegetables and flowers in net houses, greenhouses with sprinkler irrigation systems, drip irrigation; model of applying IOT technology in agriculture with RATA IoT-3G/4G...
In recent years, in Don Duong district, there have been many models of high and sustainable economic development in ethnic minority areas.
The economic efficiency can be clearly seen in the model of growing Japanese squash on one-crop rice land associated with product consumption linkage, which brings income 3-6 times higher than growing rice. In 2018, only about 24 hectares of people followed this model, but up to now, the area has increased and maintained about 200 hectares, concentrated in Tu Tra commune, Ka Don commune and Pro commune...
In recent times, the conversion of crops and livestock towards high technology in ethnic minority areas in Don Duong district has brought about economic efficiency, helping people know how to exploit land resources reasonably, apply scientific and technical advances in production and at the same time use mechanization to reduce labor in agriculture. Thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality, gradually changing the face of agriculture and rural areas in ethnic minority areas in the district.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuc - Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that in recent years, Lam Dong province has always tried to do a good job in ensuring the living standards, social security, health care, culture, vocational training, and job creation for people in ethnic minority areas.
In particular, the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction has been effectively and synchronously implemented, especially in the poor district of Dam Rong and extremely disadvantaged communes and villages. The programs and projects always prioritize poor households, near-poor households, and ethnic minorities in extremely disadvantaged socio-economic areas and remote areas, contributing to narrowing the gap in living standards and incomes between localities.
It is known that the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Lam Dong Province in 2024 will take place on September 26-27 in Da Lat City, with the participation of more than 330 delegates. Of which, there are 250 official delegates representing ethnic minorities in Lam Dong Province.
The congress will review and evaluate the results of socio-economic development, poverty reduction and new rural construction in the period of 2019 - 2024. The congress will also commend more than 130 collectives and more than 300 individuals for their contributions to socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in ethnic minority areas.
