98 schools in Son La are being proposed to pilot teaching 5 days/week

Through screening, the province has 211 out of 282 secondary schools, high schools and vocational training schools that are qualified to teach the pilot program. However, based on the proposals of districts/towns/cities; to ensure a comprehensive, accurate, effective assessment and the impacts of teaching 5 days/week, the Department of Education and Training of Son La province proposed 98 schools, including secondary schools, high schools and vocational training schools to teach the pilot program 5 days/week; of these, 69 schools are in favorable areas, the rest are schools in difficult and border areas.

The pilot teaching and learning 5 days/week is applied to secondary school level.

Regarding the teaching and learning plan, the 98 pilot schools will organize teaching and educational activities 2 sessions/day from Monday to Friday every week (off on Saturday and Sunday); no more than 7 teaching periods per day, no more than 35 teaching periods per week. These facilities must develop a 5-day/week teaching plan suitable to the actual conditions of their units, ensuring that it does not affect the learning progress and quality of education, and does not overload students...

The proposed pilot implementation period is from April 1, 2025 to the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

It is known that currently, nearly 20 provinces and cities nationwide are organizing a pilot teaching program of 5 days/week such as: Hanoi, Bac Giang, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho... In particular, Lao Cai and Lai Chau have completed the pilot program and applied it widely from the 2024-2025 school year; Nam Dinh province, after completing the pilot program, has applied it widely since March 2025.
