The fire was discovered at around 4 p.m. on April 12. The district and commune authorities mobilized about 200 people to help put out the fire. However, due to adverse weather conditions (strong winds and thunderstorms), it was difficult for the forces to access the fire area to control it. In addition, the thick layer of vegetation made the fire more intense and difficult to handle.

According to Mr. Ma Van Canh, Chairman of the People's Committee of An Lac Commune, by about 4:00 a.m. on April 13, the forest fires had basically been controlled, but the remnants were still smoldering, so at 6:00 a.m. in some locations, the fire broke out again, and forces continued to participate in fighting the forest fires. The cause of the fire, the area and the extent of damage are being investigated by the authorities to be handled according to regulations.
Also on the afternoon of April 12, in Cam Ly commune (Luc Nam), a forest fire broke out on the Huyen Dinh mountain range in Giap Son village. The fire then spread and was basically under control by the morning of April 13. The cause and extent of damage are being investigated by the authorities.
