Question:
I am a senior in college. I am using a health insurance card issued by the school. Will I be able to continue using this health insurance card when I graduate next year? – Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thuy (Tay Ho, Hanoi).
Hanoi Social Insurance replied:
According to the provisions of Clause 7, Article 13 of Decree 146/2018/ND-CP, health insurance cards are issued annually to students of universities and vocational training institutions.
In particular, for first-year students of the course: the card is valid from the date of admission, except for the case of a 12th grade student's card that is still valid.
For final year students: the card is valid until the last day of the month the course ends. Therefore, when the final year student's health insurance card expires, the health insurance will not be renewed according to the student category.
You can switch to other forms of health insurance participation, specifically: if you work at a company/enterprise... then you will pay compulsory health insurance, if you are not working yet, you can participate in family health insurance according to the provisions of Clause 5, Article 12 of the 2014 Law on Health Insurance.
