Will study to revise school subject classroom standards

In response to voters' requests to study and adjust regulations on standards for facilities and subject classrooms of educational institutions to ensure feasibility, as local budgets in many places are difficult to meet, the Ministry of Education and Training said it would seek opinions from localities on difficulties and shortcomings to amend them to suit each region.

Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Education and Training said that, implementing Decree No. 152/ND-CP of the Government stipulating standards and norms for the use of offices and public service facilities, the Minister of Education and Training issued Circular No. 13/2020/TT-BGD&DT stipulating standards for facilities of kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, high schools and multi-level general schools. Accordingly, standards for facilities are prescribed at different levels so that units can plan to invest in construction, renovation and repair of school facilities in accordance with the economic conditions of each locality.

The Ministry also issued Circular No. 14/2020/TT-BGD&DT regulating subject classrooms of general education institutions with specific regulations on teaching techniques and equipment to improve practical and experimental skills for high school students, meeting the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program.

To ensure the quality of learning and safety for students, the Ministry of Education and Training recommends that localities increase investment in construction; regularly renovate, repair and upgrade school facilities. Localities need to have an investment orientation to build national standard schools in accordance with development strategies and economic conditions; complete school network planning; prioritize ensuring land funds for educational facilities...

In the coming time, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize to collect opinions from localities on difficulties and shortcomings in the process of implementing regulations on subject classroom facilities of educational institutions to study and amend them to suit each region with different socio-economic conditions.
