Last year, I started practicing a new philosophy of life, which is minimalist consumption. In the process, I re-examined my needs and gradually discovered that I really don't need to buy so many things and that life can still be incredibly beautiful.
My daughter, on the other hand, is the complete opposite of me, her passion for shopping has left our house with mountains of stuff.
This article will explore six minimalist spending habits I've developed, each of which brings convenience and satisfaction to my life in a different way.
1. Selected clothing collection
Before, every time the seasons changed, I always looked for new clothes, hoping to wear them enough times next year.
However, since last year, I realized that I really don't need to buy clothes as often anymore.
I carefully sift through to keep only my favorites that will last me through the seasons.
Now, I can easily choose when going out because my wardrobe only has the most practical clothes. And I no longer have to waste time worrying about what to wear.

2. Choose a minimalist phone case
A phone only needs one case. However, my daughter owns 30 or 40 phone cases, which confuses me.
Some phone cases are not cheap, each one costs ten, even twenty yuan.
In fact, after buying a new phone case, my child almost never uses the old one again.
The girl explained that changing her phone case is like changing her phone, which gives her a new feeling.
Maybe, in a few years, my child will understand that this is really a waste and there is no need to buy so much.
3. Give up luxury foods
I used to order take-out or eat out a lot, but now I have changed this habit.
Not only because of the hygiene issues and high food prices but also because I realized the importance of saving.
I've been through the pandemic for three years and understand that the money in my pocket is the most reliable safety net.
So I decided to stop buying ready-made food and cook at home. This not only saves money but also ensures food hygiene and quality.

4. Carry a classic bag
A versatile bag is enough. The real value of a bag lies in its practicality, as long as it is comfortable to carry and holds the necessary items, that is enough.
Women don't need to buy multiple bags to coordinate with their outfits, because in reality, they probably only use one or two regularly.
5. Don't waste money on exercise and beauty
Fitness and beauty cards are often jokingly referred to as IQ taxes because few people take full advantage of them. Instead, I find that exercise is the best way to look good and costs next to nothing. Running, jumping rope, and yoga are all free exercises that can meet your physical needs.
For the fitness card, I recommend that you persist in exercising for free for more than half a year before deciding whether it is necessary to buy it or not.
6. Cherish old clothes at home
I find that old T-shirts at home are still very comfortable. These used clothes meet my daily needs without having to buy them often. So instead of spending money carelessly, I use that money for more important things like family living expenses.
In short, I now understand that we don't need to spend too much money to live, as long as we budget carefully and maintain a reasonable level of consumption, we can still live a happy life.
These minimalist spending habits have changed my lifestyle, making me appreciate every penny more and find satisfaction in simplicity.
I hope these experiences can inspire more people to reconsider their consumption habits and pursue a more practical and satisfying lifestyle.
