Visiting the high-tech mini hanging flower growing model in Cong Ha, we were surprised by the large, colorful flower garden. Mr. Thai Van Cong, the model leader, said that since 2008, he has been learning about hanging flower growing and planting small quantities. In 2012, he participated in a training course on growing flowers and ornamental plants organized by the Ward Farmers' Association and was determined to expand the scale of production. To support Mr. Cong in expanding his garden, the Ward Farmers' Association guaranteed him to borrow abandoned land in the Phuoc Ly regulating lake area and signed a contract to buy electricity and water for production.
Thanks to that, his flower garden has now expanded to an area of 5,000m2 with more than 30 species of flowers and ornamental plants blooming all year round. Not only creating conditions for Mr. Cong to expand production, the Ward Farmers' Association introduced the Agricultural and Forestry Extension Center (under the Department of Agriculture and Environment), the Economic Department of Lien Chieu District to support seedlings, fertilizers, investment in hanging racks, roofs, drip irrigation systems connected to smartphones to reduce costs and increase production efficiency. In particular, the association guided the application for loans from the Farmers' Support Fund of the City Farmers' Association to purchase seedlings, fertilizers, and hanging pots to serve production during peak seasons.
Thanks to the companionship and support of the association, Mr. Cong's flower garden is now a model for applying high technology to flower growing, and is regularly visited and learned by members from other localities. "On average, every month, we bring thousands of pots of flowers of all kinds to the market. Customers are widespread such as: Da Nang, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai. Thanks to the flower garden, the family economy is increasingly stable, life is improving", Mr. Cong shared. Not only helping to develop the family economy, Mr. Cong's flower garden also creates jobs for nearly 10 local workers with an income of 5 - 6 million VND/person/month.
Implementing Project No. 03-DA/HNDT of the City Farmers' Association on "Building branches and professional associations to create a premise for the formation of cooperatives and cooperatives in the fields of agriculture, trade and services", the Farmers' Association of Hoa Minh Ward has strengthened its connection with the grassroots, discovered and mobilized the establishment of many associations and cooperatives to create conditions for members to associate, develop the economy, and strive to get rich. In June 2024, through information from the grassroots, the association mobilized the establishment of a Green Bean Sprouts Growing Cooperative at the Hoa Phu Farmers' Association with 7 members. Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, deputy head of the cooperative, said that with his passion for clean food, he invested in an air conditioning system, heater, water purifier, and incubator to serve the production of clean bean sprouts.
To produce safe and quality bean sprouts, the cooperative is careful from the stage of selecting bean seeds, cleaning and disinfecting the baskets, ensuring an ideal environment for the bean sprouts to grow best. On average, the cooperative supplies the market with 400kg of clean bean sprouts per day, during Tet season it is 1 ton/day with a selling price of 15,000 VND/kg. After deducting expenses, each member has an income of 7-15 million VND/person/month, improving family life.
In April 2024, the Ward Farmers' Association gathered and mobilized members to establish a seafood fishing professional association under Hoa Phu 9 Branch with 8 members, increasing the number of branches and associations currently managed to 97. "The establishment of branch and professional association models aims to help members have the opportunity to access and share knowledge, skills, and experience in production, business, and application of science, technology, and technology in production, contributing to improving production efficiency and sustainable economic development", Mr. Ho Biet, Chairman of the Hoa Minh Ward Farmers' Association emphasized.
