Seaplanes will soon take tourists to Co To

VnExpressVnExpress01/06/2023

Quang Ninh From July, tourists can fly from Ha Long to Co To by seaplane, both to see the scenery from above and to shorten travel time.

Relevant units today surveyed the take-off and landing conditions of the flight route from Tuan Chau Island - Ha Long to Co To and provided flight training for seaplane pilots in Co To district.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ba Hai, Captain of the Seaplane of Hai A Aviation Joint Stock Company, the opening of the flight route will help reduce the time from Ha Long to Co To Island to 20 minutes (previously 90 minutes). During the journey, tourists will be able to see Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, Ngoc Vung Island, Quan Lan, Minh Chau and the whole view of Co To Island from above.

"Through the survey, we found that Co To has many advantages for flight routes and we are confident that we have all the conditions and standards to put into operation and open a flight route to Co To Island," said Mr. Hai.

The aircraft used to operate the route will be manufactured by Cessna Caravan, a subsidiary of Textrol, an American aviation group. This is the largest, safest single-engine aircraft to land on water (according to the Federal Aviation Administration and the International Civil Aviation Organization), meeting standards for stability, fuel efficiency and safety. This type of aircraft is also rated as capable of flying and landing on any body of water or ground runway area.

Co To is currently a tourist attraction in Quang Ninh province. In the first five months of 2023, the island district welcomed nearly 72,000 visitors, with nearly 157,000 days of stay, an average stay of over 2 days per visitor. In May 2023 alone, Co To district welcomed nearly 39,000 visitors, including more than 1,100 international visitors.
