On the morning of June 18, The Black Label officially announced the signing of a management contract with Rosé (BlackPink). The announcement stated that the two sides cooperated based on a deep relationship and mutual trust. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

"Rosé is currently preparing to meet fans around the world through music. She will also participate in music activities around the world in collaboration with global record labels.

We look forward to a special synergy between Rosé, who possesses a unique musical color, and The Black Label, which supports the independent activities of its artists.

We promise to support Rosé in her activities to ensure she succeeds in many areas," The Black Label's announcement read.

Rosé (BlackPink) officially signed a contract with Teddy's company The Black Label.

With this contract, Rosé will join Jeon Somi, Taeyang, Zion.T and actor Park Bo Gum.

Previously, on June 17, Newsen exclusively reported that Rosé (BlackPink) signed a contract with music producer Teddy's The Black Label to develop a personal solo project.

Shortly after, The Black Label confirmed to iMBC that it was in discussions with Rosé about a contract. "We are in discussions with Rosé about an exclusive contract," the company said.

Korean media commented that joining The Black Label is a safe choice for Rosé.

The reason is because "music wizard" Teddy is the core factor in creating BlackPink's music for the past 8 years. He produces most of the group's songs and is respected by the members, understands the members well, so it will be easier to collaborate and produce music.

BlackPink talked about Teddy in the 2020 documentary "BlackPink: Light up the sky": "He always listens to our stories, grasps new directions, and guides us in a good direction. In our hearts, he is the 5th member of BlackPink."

Rosé is the only member of BlackPink who did not establish her own company but joined a new management company.

Since the end of 2023, BlackPink members and YG Entertainment have come to an agreement that all 4 members will continue to sign contracts with the company but no one will renew their individual contracts.

This means that group activities will still be managed by YG as before, but each person's individual activities will be decided by them.

The three members Jennie, Lisa and Jisoo have announced the establishment of their own companies, including Odd Atelier (December 2023), LLOUD (February 2024) and Blissoo (February 2024). Rosé is the last member to confirm her destination after ending her contract with YG.

The Black Label started as a company under YG Entertainment in 2016, with producer Teddy (Park Hong Joon) as one of the founders.

But now, YG's stake in The Black Label has plummeted to around 21%. Teddy, who serves as creative director, is also the company's largest shareholder, with a 42% stake.

Earlier this year, Korean media reported that The Black Label would be leaving YG's office in Hapjeong, and moving its main office to Hannam W Office - a building in Hannam, Yongsan District, Seoul. This is a sign that The Black Label is gradually separating from YG.
