Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Development (NTM), the movement of “Moving fences, donating land for road construction” has recently spread throughout the countryside in Lam Thao district. People are open-minded, ready to contribute their efforts and wealth to create spacious, clean and beautiful roads, making the appearance of the countryside more and more prosperous.

After reaching the NTM finish line, Lam Thao district continued to build an advanced NTM district. The locality focused on mobilizing the strength of the entire political system and encouraging people to actively participate. The movement of moving fences to donate land, expanding rural roads, cultural house grounds and other welfare works has had a strong influence.

This is the second time that Mrs. Tran Thi Lam's family in Zone 8, Ban Nguyen Commune voluntarily donated land to widen the road with a happy and excited spirit, proactively working with the construction unit to tear down the fence and move the fence inside. Along with Mrs. Lam, many other households on the road to Zone 8 also voluntarily donated land, the road was widened from 3m to 5m, making it easier for people to travel and transport goods.

Mrs. Lam shared: The first benefit of expanding the road is for ourselves, so why calculate and compare? My family volunteered to donate 80m of land along the road to set an example for the villagers. People can travel conveniently, without having to wait for cars and motorbikes to pass each other, the road is beautiful and straight, just go. We are very happy.

Identifying transportation as a difficult criterion in the criteria for building advanced new rural areas, it is necessary to mobilize resources from the people, local leaders together with mass organizations have actively propagated and mobilized people to understand the benefits after expanding and concreting residential roads, contributing to bringing Ban Nguyen commune to the advanced new rural area finish line by the end of 2024.

In Vinh Lai commune, thanks to the active participation of the local government, in which the people are the main subject, many households have voluntarily donated land to build roads. Thanks to that, up to now, 18.9km of the main and inter-regional roads, 10km of alley roads have been expanded and hardened with 343 lights, 99 traffic signs and 18 speed bumps to ensure the safety of residential areas and people's travel.

Comrade Nguyen Dinh Luan - Vice Chairman of Vinh Lai Commune People's Committee said: With the motto "The State and the People work together", many people have actively participated with the government in contributing money and labor to construct, expand and upgrade rural roads to serve the travel and living needs of the people. After the policy of expanding roads was issued, people were excited and willing to donate land, cut down trees, move fences, and hand over the site to facilitate the construction unit.

The family of Ms. Nguyen Thu Luong, Phung Nguyen commune, voluntarily moved the fence and donated land to widen the road.

Donating land for road construction is a long-standing campaign in the district. In 2023, it continued to be launched as a movement called "Moving fences to donate land for road construction". Up to now, the whole district has nearly 500 households voluntarily moving fences and donating land for road construction with a total area of ​​nearly ^6,000m2, contributing to the continued expansion and extension of rural roads.

In order for the land donation movement to be supported by the people, Lam Thao district has always focused on propaganda and mobilization work for the people. Because Lam Thao is a land with a long history, culture, family solidarity, and a strong community. People always attach great importance to things of long-standing value, typically there are families whose land was left by their ancestors, generation after generation, living, preserving and worshiping their ancestors, or there are families whose land is worth hundreds of millions of dong, so it is not easy to get immediate consensus. Local authorities, especially the Residential Area Front Committee, must do ideological work, mobilize step by step, and gradually make people understand and agree. Typically, some localities have done a good job of mobilizing land donation for road construction such as the communes of Thach Son, Vinh Lai, Ban Nguyen, Son Vi, Phung Nguyen...

Walking on the wide inter-village concrete roads like provincial roads in localities in the district, we can see more clearly the meaning of "Party's will, people's heart", to see that all policies and guidelines when originating from real life, meeting the legitimate needs and aspirations of the people will create consensus of the community and a sense of responsibility, setting an example for cadres and party members at the grassroots level.
