(BGDT) - The learning path for students after completing junior high school and high school is increasingly open. Diverse forms of enrollment and training models with different cost levels help students have the opportunity to choose schools and careers that suit their abilities and family's economic conditions.

Diverse training models

The province currently has 63 high schools, vocational education and continuing education centers, and colleges. At the end of the 2023-2024 school year entrance exam, the province had more than 16,000 successful candidates, while more than 3,000 students transferred to private schools or vocational training institutions. Thanks to good counseling and streaming, more than 6,000 9th grade students did not want to take the 10th grade entrance exam but chose other learning models.

The Admissions Department of FPT College System advises on admission to grade 10 for the 2023-2024 school year.

From June to now, it is the peak time for vocational training institutions and non-public high schools to open enrollment. Ms. Vu Lan Huong, enrollment officer of FPT College System, said: "Currently, the unit has received registration documents from 150 students in Bac Giang province, reaching 50% of the planned target. The school is open to receive registration documents until the end of July to start the 2023-2024 school year in August."

Admission is based on grade 9 transcripts combined with competency assessment tests. With the modern high school-college education model, in 3 years of study, students are equipped with cultural knowledge with basic subjects (Math, Literature, History + 1 elective subject) combined with practical experience, vocational education, life skills and specialized studies.

In addition, non-public high schools such as Nguyen Hong (Bac Giang City), Doi Ngo (Luc Nam), Nguyen Binh Khiem (Viet Yen), and vocational colleges in the province have received 220-300 applications for admission based on academic records.

In the 2023-2024 school year, the Vietnam - Korea Bac Giang College of Technology is assigned to recruit 700 high school education targets combined with vocational secondary education and 700 college targets. For the secondary education system, from June, the school will receive admission applications including 9th grade study results and junior high school graduation certificates. The admission method is to take scores from high to low until the enrollment target is met.

In recent years, due to the increasing number of applications, the quality of the school's admission is higher than last year. Currently, the number of applications has exceeded the assigned target. Many students have an average admission score of 6.5-7 points/subject in cultural subjects. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Kien Thanh commune (Luc Ngan), who recently submitted his application, said: "After researching, I decided to choose to study culture and vocational training to be exempted from vocational training fees, reducing the economic burden on my family."

Consider your family's ability and conditions

In recent years, many universities and academies have innovated the admission method based on high school graduation exam results, considering academic records or organizing competency assessment exams. Therefore, before the 2023 high school graduation exam, many 12th graders received good news of being admitted, significantly reducing the pressure on candidates when they only need to achieve an average score of over 5 points in all subjects, with no failed subjects (from 1 or less) to graduate.

Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc, from Hoang Van Thu ward (Bac Giang city), said that since May, she has been eligible to be admitted to the Diplomatic Academy through the aptitude test. This is Minh Ngoc's dream school, so during her three years of high school, she has always tried to study hard, improve her knowledge, and participate in skill development clubs to meet the criteria.

The labor market always needs a diverse workforce with many occupations as well as university, college, intermediate or primary levels. Each student needs to choose the most suitable learning path based on their abilities, strengths, personal and family conditions.

To make learning suitable for the needs and conditions of families, most schools announce targets, training plans, and tuition fees for learners to refer to.

For non-public high schools and vocational training institutions in the province, training programs and teaching plans are assessed by the Department of Education and Training and specialized agencies, and contributions are made according to regulations of the Provincial People's Council.

At FPT Bac Giang College System, the tuition fee for intermediate level is 13 million VND/semester; for college level it is from nearly 10 million VND to 12.4 million VND/semester.

According to Mr. Ngo Quoc Duong, Head of the Department of Secondary Education - Continuing Education (Department of Education and Training), each training model has different forms, training time and contribution costs. Learners need to base on their own wishes, abilities, labor market needs and family economic conditions to make appropriate decisions.

Each student needs to choose the most suitable learning path based on their abilities, strengths, personal and family conditions. The admission period for high schools, colleges and universities has not ended. Educational institutions are still opening their doors, promoting communication, consulting, and introducing preferential policies to attract students to participate in voluntary learning.
