Join hands to support the poor
One day in early April, Ms. Phan Thi Tuyet, Head of the Women's Association of Tay Village, Van Ninh Commune, along with many other members and women, arrived very early to help repair the house of Ms. Bui Thi Hang. Ms. Tuyet said that Ms. Hang is a single mother raising two young children, and her life is full of difficulties and deprivation. To support Ms. Hang, the women in the association helped transport furniture, clear trees, and construction materials to make room for the house repair. Together with the team of workers, they took turns mixing mortar, pushing sand and stone carts, removing corrugated iron roofs, helping move tiles, etc. to quickly complete the house and put it into use soon.
“I work as a scrap collector, with an unstable income, so life for the three of us is very difficult. For many years, we have been living together in a small, dilapidated house, but we have no funds to repair it. Thanks to the local government's support, I have been supported to repair the house, something my mother and I have longed for but have not been able to do. This time, I not only received financial support from the State, but the women in the village have also supported me with many working days. I am truly touched by the care of the women, the local government and the neighbors,” Ms. Hang confided.
With the motto "Whoever has money contributes money, whoever has merit contributes merit, whoever has a lot contributes a lot, whoever has little contributes a little", in recent times, the Women's Union of Van Ninh commune has had many practical activities to join hands in supporting poor and near-poor households.
According to the President of the Women's Union of Van Ninh Commune, Nguyen Thi Phuong: "Responding to the movement of joining hands to build houses for poor and near-poor households in the area, the cadres and members of the Women's Union of Van Ninh Commune have supported more than 115 working days to help families repair their houses and build new houses. Some transported bricks, some mixed mortar, some cleaned... although it was hard work, everyone felt very happy because they had done meaningful work."
Not only contributing working days, many people have joined hands and contributed funds to support poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households to repair and build new houses.
Chairman of the Van Ninh Commune Red Cross Association Le Ha Kien said that, along with calling on businesses and philanthropists, the Commune Red Cross Association has mobilized cadres, members and people to join hands, contribute efforts and funds to support disadvantaged households who are repairing and building new houses under the XNT and NDN programs. Currently, the Commune Red Cross Association has awarded 45 million VND to 8 households repairing and building new houses in the area. In the coming time, the association will continue to call for and mobilize support for other disadvantaged households...
Great effort, great determination
Each house built and repaired not only helps people have a solid place to live but also brings new hope in life. In the new, spacious house that has just been put into use, Ms. Hoang Thi Lieng, Tien Vinh village, Gia Ninh commune, emotionally shared: "Without the support of the local government, poor households like me would never have a solid house like this to live in. I am very grateful for the attention and sharing of all levels and sectors for me and many other poor households in the area."
Implementing the housing support program for poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households, Gia Ninh commune has actively deployed housing construction and resettlement work in the area.
Chairman of Gia Ninh Commune People's Committee Dinh Duy Minh said that, implementing the Government's policy of housing construction and renovation, the locality has focused on directing the repair and construction of houses for 9 households eligible for support (including 4 newly built houses and 5 repaired houses). In addition to the budget support, the commune has called on and mobilized people to contribute funds to further support families in difficult circumstances; at the same time, mobilized political organizations and unions to join hands to help with working days, contributing to reducing costs and speeding up construction progress. Currently, households eligible for housing repair have completed and put into use, while those with new construction are being rushed to complete before April 30.
With the highest political determination, the program of providing housing for poor and near-poor households is being vigorously implemented by the Party Committee and the authorities of Quang Ninh district. Up to now, Quang Ninh district has started to build new and repair houses for 45 poor and near-poor households in the area; of which, 24 houses have been newly built and 21 houses have been repaired and renovated.
According to Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh District People's Committee Le Ngoc Huan, the program of poverty reduction and poverty alleviation has a special significance and profound humanity. The district identifies this as a key task that needs to be implemented resolutely, striving to complete the poverty reduction and poverty alleviation target before April 30, contributing to improving the quality of life for local people. In addition to the support from the province and district, localities have had many creative ways to join hands with families to build spacious and solid houses. Each house built helps families stabilize their lives and develop their economy with peace of mind.
Implementing the program of XNT, NDN, Quang Ninh district has allocated over 1.9 billion VND; the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ninh district mobilized over 750 million VND; the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of communes and towns mobilized over 382 million VND; people and organizations contributed over 610 working days to support poor and near-poor households to repair and build houses. |
