This afternoon (October 20), Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh chaired a press conference on the expected agenda of the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly.
At the press conference, Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee Nguyen Thanh Hai said that at the preparatory meeting of the 8th session tomorrow morning (October 21), the National Assembly will review the contents expected to be submitted to the session and consider approving the official agenda of the session.

In particular, the content of personnel work will be considered and approved by the National Assembly in the official agenda of the session.
According to the scheduled agenda of the session submitted to the National Assembly for approval, on the first day of the session, the National Assembly will conduct the personnel process for the position of President, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and laws.
"We implement the principle of Party nomination and people's election. At the recent 10th Central Conference, the Central Committee unanimously voted to introduce qualified personnel to the National Assembly to elect to hold the position of President for the 2021-2026 term.
Regarding other personnel under the authority of the National Assembly, we will follow the provisions of the law. The meeting agenda has arranged time to carry out personnel work under the authority of the National Assembly," said Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai.
The meeting will decide on investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project.
Previously, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Office Vu Minh Tuan said that the 8th session will have a preparatory meeting and a solemn opening tomorrow morning (October 21), and is expected to close on the morning of November 30.
The total working time of the session is expected to be 29.5 days, conducted in 2 phases, in which the National Assembly will work 4 Saturdays. Specifically, phase 1 is from October 21 to November 13; phase 2 is from November 20 to the morning of November 30.
"At this session, the National Assembly will spend most of its time on law-making, supreme supervision, reviewing and deciding on socio-economic issues and a number of other important issues," said Mr. Vu Minh Tuan.
In particular, Mr. Tuan said that General Secretary and President To Lam will give an important speech at the opening session of the 8th meeting.

Regarding the 8th session agenda, according to Mr. Vu Minh Tuan, the National Assembly will consider and pass 15 laws and 3 resolutions; and give initial opinions on 13 other draft laws.
The National Assembly also spent time evaluating the results of the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and the State budget for 2024 and considering and deciding on the plan for 2025.
In addition, the National Assembly gave opinions on reports on judicial work, anti-corruption, crime prevention and control, and law violation violations, and the results of monitoring the handling of voters' petitions, receiving citizens, handling petitions, and resolving citizens' complaints and denunciations.
Notably, the National Assembly will consider personnel work under its authority; consider and decide on the establishment of Hue City directly under the Central Government; and consider and decide on the investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project.
Other important contents: The National Assembly will conduct questions and answers; review the report of the Supervisory Delegation and consider and approve the National Assembly's Resolution on the results of the thematic supervision of "Implementation of policies and laws on real estate market management and social housing development from 2015 to the end of 2023".
