Many achievements in 2024
Speaking at the press conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung informed that Quang Nam has overcome great difficulties in 2024, which is also the year witnessing the province's strong economic recovery.
Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) increased by 7.1%, impressively rising from the “negative growth” (down 8.37% in 2023). Industrial production recorded a growth rate of 13.5%. The economic scale reached nearly 129 trillion VND, an increase of 16.5 trillion VND compared to the previous year. GRDP per capita reached more than 84 million VND.
Tourism continues to be a bright spot with 8.02 million visitors, revenue reaching VND 9,200 billion, up 19% compared to 2023. Social income from tourism is estimated at VND 21,620 billion, exceeding the set plan.
The investment and new rural areas achieved positive results. Total social investment capital reached 35,881 billion VND, disbursement of public investment capital reached 70.33%. By the end of the year, 137 communes met new rural standards, of which 25 communes met advanced standards and 4 districts completed the task of building new rural areas.
The poverty rate has decreased sharply. The number of poor households in the province has decreased to 20,272 households, equivalent to 4.56%, exceeding the poverty reduction target.
In 2025, Quang Nam sets drastic goals with key tasks, realizing the aspiration for sustainable development. The province's theme for 2025 is "Dramatically implementing the restructuring of the apparatus; promoting economic growth, digital transformation; fighting waste". Quang Nam sets a target of GRDP increasing by 9.5-10%, budget revenue reaching 25,000 billion VND, reducing the number of poor households by 3,000, and creating new jobs for 16,000 workers.
Key solutions include: Accelerating the implementation of provincial planning, promoting digital transformation; supporting start-up businesses and business development; effectively managing capital, resources and protecting the environment; improving people's lives and ensuring social security.
In 2024, Quang Nam achieved many encouraging achievements, creating a solid foundation for the major goals of 2025. Efforts in administrative reform, digital transformation and sustainable development will continue to be the main driving force for the province's development.

At the meeting, reporters also asked provincial leaders about overcoming and upgrading traffic infrastructure, developing inspection centers, and limiting the load on Vo Chi Cong Street.

“Quang Nam has implemented and resolutely streamlined the apparatus early on. Recently, the locality has had a project and is determined to implement this policy in the coming time. The Central Government has issued a very open policy to support the streamlining. The goal of the arrangement is to have a strong streamlined apparatus, and the first priority is to carry out screening. The province will resolutely encourage the retirement of weak cadres who work half-heartedly. In addition to the Central Government's regulations, the Provincial People's Committee is also researching and surveying a number of localities to create consistency in policies for streamlining and reorganizing the apparatus" - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung discussed at the press conference.
Regarding the appointment of the Director of the Traditional Medicine Hospital, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung said that the hospital had been stagnant for a while and did not have a Deputy Director. The province has directed this unit to improve its apparatus and resolve existing problems at the hospital. The appointment aims to consolidate the hospital's operations and resolve the rights of the majority of workers. The provincial leaders have also determined that if the internal situation is not good and there is no consensus from the workers, the hospital director will be transferred.
Regarding natural disaster prevention, the head of the provincial People's Committee affirmed that Quang Nam pays great attention to this issue and has been and is solving this task fundamentally. The provincial People's Committee will develop a detailed plan to submit to competent authorities for consideration of locations that have been warned to proceed with evacuation, minimizing damage.
