Over the years, the Vietnamese defense industry has improved and produced many new firepower weapons to support infantry.
Soldiers of DK1 Platform Battalion (Naval Region 2) are ready to fight with 12.7 mm machine guns.
SPG-9T anti-tank gun, the superior power of modern weapons in combat
The SPG-9 anti-tank gun was designed and manufactured by the (former) Soviet Union and is equipped in mechanized infantry units of military regions and corps for combat readiness training.
Because this is a powerful firepower for batteries, with many advantages, in 1998, the Weapons Institute (General Department of Defense Industry) was assigned the task of researching and designing the SPG-9 anti-tank gun, completed at the end of 1999.

During the implementation process, the project team has built a set of documents to design a synchronous SPG-9 gun that meets the requirements for manufacturing. Through practical testing, the gun meets the requirements for features and tactics as proposed.
At the end of 2000, the SPG-9 product manufactured in Vietnam was evaluated as excellent by superiors and named SPG-9T.
Since 2002, the SPG-9T anti-tank gun has been produced at the Z125 factory (General Department of Defense Industry) with a number of improvements suitable for combat conditions in mountainous areas, hot and humid weather environments, and infantry combat.

In particular, the SPG-9T anti-tank gun uses two types of ammunition also designed and produced by Vietnam: the PG-9B anti-tank bullet and the OG-9VN anti-tank bullet.
Deployment of the battlefield
82mm anti-tank gun DKZ-82B10VN
By 2001, our army still had a lot of DKZ-82B10 ammunition in its warehouse, while the guns were degraded, the quantity was small, and not enough to meet equipment needs.
Faced with that situation, in early 2001, superiors assigned the General Department of Defense Industry to complete the design using existing materials and test-produce Vietnam's DKZ-82B10 gun.
In a short time, with a large amount of work, including many complex technological contents, the Weapons Institute and factories Z125 and Z199 actively deployed and excellently completed the assigned tasks.

The DKZ-82B10 anti-tank gun, improved and manufactured by Vietnam, has a simpler and more compact structure than the original gun, but still ensures basic technical and tactical features and uses the same ammunition and sight as the original gun...
Vietnam 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine gun
Mr. Nguyen Hai Ninh, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee (now Minister of Justice), visited soldiers on duty with 12.7 mm anti-aircraft guns on Nui Le Island (Truong Sa), April 2022
The 12.7 mm gun is a low-altitude anti-aircraft weapon aided mainly from the Soviet Union (former) and China (12.7 mm K38/46 model, 12.7 mm K54 model gun)...
In 2000, the Ministry of National Defense approved the investment project to manufacture 12.7 mm NSV-type heavy machine guns by the Z111 factory and the Weapons Institute developed design and manufacturing documents.
Test of a reduced 12.7 mm anti-aircraft gun, 2007
The product of the project is a Vietnamese 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine gun with an NSV-style gun body; the gun mount and mechanical sight are improved similar to the 12.7 mm K54 gun; the ammunition box and other equipment are shared with the 12.7 mm K54 gun...
Acceptance of KTQ optical sight mounted on 12.7 mm anti-aircraft gun
Since 2004, Vietnamese 12.7 mm guns have been produced at the Z111 factory.
Because the synchronized 12.7 mm Vietnamese anti-aircraft machine gun has a relatively large mass (about 86 kg), causing difficulties when marching and moving to the battlefield... so in 2007, superiors requested research and design to manufacture a lighter 12.7 mm gun...
12.7 mm gun on combat duty in Truong Sa archipelago
After research, the research team applied new materials, designed to simplify the gun rack structure from 44 kg to 31 kg and the total gun weight from 86 kg to 63 kg, but still ensured durability and technical and tactical features.
Vietnam's 12.7 mm SCX-12.7V anti-aircraft gun model
Since 2008, the Vietnamese 12.7 mm gun has been mass-produced by Z111 and equipped to units with the official name of the 12.7 mm SCX-12.7V anti-aircraft gun.
12.7 mm gun on combat duty on DK1 platform
Recently, factory Z111 also produced and put into service the 7.62 mm DN7L machine gun.
The gun was designed by the Weapons Research Institute, with basic technical parameters such as: Caliber 7.62 mm; uses 7.62×54 mm bullets; gun length 1,173 mm; weight 13 kg (without bullets); effective range 800 – 1,000 m…
DN7L machine gun manufactured by Z111 factory
In particular, the Vietnamese DN7L heavy machine gun has both a picatinny rail and a left-side mount, allowing the gun to mount many types of old and new scopes.
Major Phung Tat Thanh, Deputy Director of Factory Z111 (General Department of Defense Industry) introduces the DN7L machine gun to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters.
