On the morning of December 17, a group of workers were constructing the base of the An Duong Vuong statue at the Nguyen Tri Phuong intersection - the intersection of District 5 and District 10. The base of the statue was surrounded by a tarpaulin to paint and renovate the islet. This monument was built in 1966, designed with a tall Corinthian column, on top of which is a statue of An Duong Vuong holding a crossbow. The renovation is expected to be completed in December.

Two kilometers away, the Phan Dinh Phung statue in front of the District 5 Post Office was also repainted and refurbished. This is one of seven remaining monuments from before 1975 in the city. According to the District 5 People's Committee, the cost of repairing the two statues is about one billion VND. In February 2022, the district repaired the An Duong Vuong statue but due to lack of funds, it had to be temporarily suspended.

During this period, the city also plans to renovate the landscape and return the statues of Tran Nguyen Han and Quach Thi Trang to their original location in front of Ben Thanh Market, District 1. Previously, the statue of Tran Nguyen Han was built of cement and had been seriously degraded and restored twice. In 2014, the statue was moved to make way for a metro station until now. According to the plan, the statue will be restored using more durable materials such as bronze.

According to the Department of Culture and Sports, Ho Chi Minh City currently has about 10 monuments built before 1975 located at intersections. These are statues of historical figures and national heroes such as: Phu Dong Thien Vuong (Phu Dong 6-way intersection, District 1), Tran Hung Dao (Me Linh Square, District 1), An Duong Vuong (District 5), Phan Dinh Phung (Chau Van Liem - Hai Thuong Lan Ong intersection, District 5)... The degraded and damaged statues will be restored in the near future.
