Deputy Prime Minister "finalizes" deadline for submitting electricity price adjustment plan

On October 11, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai chaired a meeting of the Price Management Steering Committee on the results of price management in the first 9 months of 2023 and orientations for the remaining months of 2023.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai emphasized that in September and the first 9 months of 2023, the world commodity market had many fluctuations due to the impact of many factors in the world economy and politics.

"According to forecast scenarios, this year the CPI is expected to increase by about 3.8%. I suggest that you advise on managing the CPI at a reasonable level, according to the goals set by the National Assembly, both maintaining macroeconomic stability, ensuring people's lives and supporting enterprises in production, business and economic development," Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai stated.

The Deputy Prime Minister also analyzed in depth the management of two very important policies that affect the macro economy: fiscal policy and monetary policy.

Regarding fiscal policy, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Finance to review and evaluate carefully the implementation of policies on tax, fee, charge, land rent exemption, reduction, extension, and postponement, especially for some major taxes affecting the State budget revenue, to strive to achieve the budget target, ensuring that the State budget "revenue must cover expenditure".

Regarding monetary policy, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that in the context of the volatile and risky world currency market, maintaining the value of the Vietnamese currency is a great success, creating favorable conditions for import and export activities; mobilization, lending, foreign exchange reserves, etc.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to continue implementing appropriate price management measures for a number of essential goods that have a great impact on the consumer price index, people's lives and production and business activities of enterprises such as: gasoline, liquefied gas, electricity, transportation services, construction materials, agricultural supplies, medical services, education, food, etc.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai also gave specific instructions on a number of important goods and services.

Specifically, regarding electricity prices, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to coordinate with the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises to direct Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) to submit a price adjustment plan before October 25, 2023 in accordance with the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister and the prescribed procedures.

Regarding petroleum products, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to continue focusing on implementing solutions to ensure supply for the country's distribution system; and be ready to promptly handle price fluctuations when the market fluctuates.

Regarding the Ministry of Health, based on its authority and necessity, the Deputy Prime Minister proposed to submit to the Government for comments on the plan to adjust medical service prices in October 2023; consider issuing a Circular on medical service prices in a shortened order.

For other essential goods and services, based on their functions, tasks and authority, the Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries and branches to closely monitor developments, promptly report and propose solutions when there are changes for handling.

Regarding construction materials, including sand for filling, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Construction to closely monitor supply and demand; and requested localities to strengthen inspection, supervision, and strict and effective management .
